Hitting/spanking a child as discipline will solve the problem

It does solve the problem if the kid knows why it's happening and it's not over used. I know from personal experience.

However it should rarely be used otherwise it becomes "normal" and they stop caring. It works because of the shock value.

to be honest it's different per person.

I know i got spanked as a child and that just encouraged me to do it more despite the pain.

Alot of people take the anger from being spanked and take it to school etc and take it out on others to.

It depends on the person really sure for some it works but it can have a terrible effect on others.

Depends on who the kid is i don't believe it's a one size fits all kind of solution it will help some but make others worse.

Did they spank you often or was it a very rare thing? For me it was pretty rare and they only did it if it was obvious nothing else was going to work.

That there was a big green crocodile in the pool (or any water that I couldn't see the bottom of) that would eat me if I went swimming alone.

To be fair I really like to swim... But I'm still afraid to swim in water that I can't see the bottom of... even though I *know* that there isn't a crocodile waiting to eat me.

Whelp goes to show you that magic pill solutions never work. Every human is different and has to be dealt with differently.

So what did work on you if spanking didn't work?

Nothing really worked except for time out where i was sat in a room for an hour with nothing to do.

Bordem was my weakness.

That grown ups were wise.

Toys could move on their own when I'm not looking and if I don't take care of them, they get mad or go away.

Really? Time out basically was like winding up a spring for me and as soon as the time was out I was so hyper it drove people nuts. Plus I had XX many minutes of boredom to undo.

"If you work hard enough and believe in yourself, everything you want will happen"

Fast forward a few years ago where almost every opportunity is barred away from me simply because of my physical appearance. Not really a lie because if I looked better, I'd succeed but since I don't, that fact just doesn't apply to me.
