Well, that's interesting.

Can't you request on MAL that the ratings be changed (most of the time, they deny it since they're probably ultraconservatives)

I'm not sure what there is to change. If the rating is based on the Japanese rating then there really isn't much to say. It doesn't make sense to seemingly randomly use the US rating because not all anime has a US rating to them (or to really use a rating you come up with). Could they show both ratings? Sure, but to think it's appropriate to just switch between the two (what if they're in the UK for instance?) seems a bit outlandish. And then to call them "ultraconservatives" because they took the best route for the rating (using the Japanese one because it all originates from Japan) looks arrogant on your part.

Gundam the Origin is probably R+ on MAL because the word Gundam sounds like a naughty word.

Cry me a river! I met several civil-minded users who are worthy of being my friends over there. Just ignore the forums, use common sense and you're good.

I think there might be a tad bit more trolling on their forums from my limited experience. Not sure why the attraction is so high towards that when it comes to anime forums. My guess is that the medium itself draws in certain people but it doesn't count for everyone. There is also a lot of nice people.

yes, yes it does.
Look I have had experience with the awful sides of both our own forums and theirs. We can get pretty bad over here, but my passing through MAL's forums was like a window into some vicious, festering netherworld. I have never seen such a boiling welter of seething immature rage and petty arguments slathered in a layer of pedantry and ignorance. Granted this was mostly perusing type moon threads, which are always notably high in saline content, but even so our own threads on Fate/Stay Night never sank that low into the toxic mire.

The thing is we can go very bad at times, but MAL is like a brave pioneer into uncharted territories best left unexplored. Their forums invent new levels of horror we can only dream of in our darkest nightmares. From my recollection that type moon thread I mentioned couldn't even handle an april fool's joke without spontaneously combusting. The whole site should be cordoned off until it eventually cannibalizes itself, leaving behind only faint awful memories of it's inanity left to haunt the traumatized survivors.

That's what I kept telling people, both CR and MAL forum can get bad and sometime ridiculous. But at least MAL moderators are doing their jobs. Also I found couple on MAL forum that you can't find on CR like this one for example. I wonder why nobody brought this up on CR.

Am I the only one who doesn't go into the forums too much on MAL? I mean, damn.....no one is forcing a gun to your head here, folks. And CR isn't that innocent either

I just use it to keep track of what I've watched or where I might've left off on something. I used to use it for manga but I just stopped.

It's user rated. So there will be people that will praise it and people that say it's shit. If an anime is universally panned such as Charlotte or Glasslip then you should read into the reviews as to why they suck. On the other hand animes like SAO and AOT will get high praise even though they are average at best so it really depends on your taste and which user review you're reading. Also Heaven's Lost Property does suck so idk what you were expecting there.

What's the hate? I like how people are able to rate episodes and tell in their forums what they like or dislike about them. At least the site isn't 4 Chan which seems to be composed of half the trollers and haters on the net.

I use Anime-Planet. It was the one I started using first and when I looked into using MAL I found it very un-user friendly. That said, there is more freedom to add when exactly you watched it and such, but that is superfluous to me for the most part.

Okay some of the Animes this year that I totally love are Attack on Titan, Sailor Moon Crystal, Free! Summer Eternal Swim and Space Brothers so many others that I totally liked why you may ask I mean I mean I just loved them all but I do have a few disappointing ones like lovely Muuuuuuco and some others but Fairy Tail that one is awesome but I loved it. But Go-Lion man it's a disappointment it's a remake of Voltron but anyways.

Here's a top three of my worst Animes of the year.

3. Death Note
2. Tokyo Ghoul/Attack on Titan
1. RWBY/Fate/Fate/Stay-Night and Fairy Tail.

Here's are top three worst animes of 2015

3. Go Lion
2. Rail Wars/Pupa
1. Sailor Moon Crystal (Okay I have watched the original anime and let me tell you guys this is worst anime ever I mean I don't know how in the world or why they had to make this from manga I mean but they have a lot of work to do into next season but good luck)?
