TL;DR at the bottom, but full read is recommended to gain the greatest grasp of the idea.

I am aware that there is a trend for fans to skip openings to shows in order to not catch any spoilers; however, personally, I really enjoy the opening and closing songs/animations for shows. I don't think having a "bad" opening or closing song/animation can ruin a show, but I definitely think a "great" opening or closing song/animation can make a great show even better (or a decent show better. I.E. Sword Art Online had great opening songs, show was alright. Still a fan, though.).

As being someone who enjoys the openings and closing of shows, I find myself painfully searching YouTube for the openings and closings for shows that aren't altered in anyway or haven't just been removed for Copyright reasons. It is rare to find the up-to-date intros and outros for your favorite shows without getting bodied by legality and it is also a really annoying and painstaking task of having to watch an episode of the show to find the part where the intro/outro starts and then pause the show and "rewind" it so you can listen to it again (The Haikyu!! openings are some of my favorites, but a lot of shows have very catchy songs. Another example: ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH)

So one day after trying to get the Asterisk War opening and the Haikyu Second Season opening to add them to my YouTube playlist of my favorite songs from shows, that is constantly being chunked away by YouTube (which is perfectly legal, and I do understand why it happens), I had the thought:

"Yo... What if Crunchyroll was able to make a section on the website that was like the anime section, where it displays the shows by icon and can be arranged by many different categories, but when you click on the show title/icon, instead of the episodes, it displays the openings and closings clips that you can play or set to repeat or even make a playlist out of..." (I'm not saying it has to be that way, it was just what I thought in the moment and it paints a clear picture of the idea as a whole.)

1. This whole post is a semi-suggestion, but also a question. Is it even possible for CR to do legally?
I would think they would be able to due to the fact that they have purchased permission/rights to stream the show in general. But hey, I truly am not knowledgeable in that field of work.

2. "Do you know how many shows CR has?!?! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THAT WOULD TAKE TO GET EVERY INTRO AND OUTRO FOR EVERY SHOW ON THIS BEAUTIFUL WEBSITE?!!?!??!?!"
Yeah, I do. It was just a suggestion. You couldn't get every intro and outro all at once, but you could start with ongoing series, very recent shows, and "most popular" shows just to start out with. Of course I'm not suggesting it would be easy, at all, but it could be something that is always developing and maybe even Premium members only? It would be rather unique for Crunchyroll to offer, and it could potentially be a way to draw more Subs in and to provide more "content" for current subs. It would be a difficult, but unique, addition.

3. "Why don't you buy the full song on iTunes or Google Play Music or wherever you purchase music from?"
Full songs are cool, obviously because that is where the clip song comes from, but I really do enjoy the intros and outros and the emotion and hype they capture as their own seperate being that is cut out of the original song. Not saying that the full song's aren't as appealing to me as the smaller clips, but if CR wants to also have a section where you can purchase full songs then by all means, make this post a game changer for the Crunchyroll website. I'm just here to focus on the idea of intros and outros, though. Also, some of the newer songs for the more recent shows are unavailable to purchase which is disheartening, as well.

To wrap this guy up here before I do the TL;DR, I completely understand that if the task of creating a section for intros and outros was accepted it would be rather time consuming and a large task at hand. Again, it can be broken down into sections based popularity, ongoing series, etc. to start out with and would continue to expand as time progressed. I can also see how I can be seen as someone who is demanding something for their personal gain but not willing to understand the effort and time put in, but really this is only a suggestion and I would like to hear what people thought about it all. I believe it can be something really cool to add to the site and would be yet another addition to Crunchyroll's constant expansion. If this has been discussed before, I do deeply apologize!

TL;DR Wouldn't it be cool if Crunchyroll had a section so you could watch your favorite intros and outros on the site and could make a playlist or put them on repeat possibly for premium members only? It would be a tough challenge, I agree. Just a suggestion, though. Let me know what you think.

Unless you are referring specifically to wanting to be able to watch it while listening to it you can usually just look up lyric videos to the song that the intro was cut from. Or you can type in the song name and put 'song name here full' and get the full song on YouTube. It's very rare that the full song is not available and when it is you can usually see a lyrics video for the cut version of the song. Although there are some cases where you can't find either on YouTube.

I think that's a great idea LOL if it's possible. Sometimes I'll sit and watch nothing but openings/closings.

I agree that you can usually find the full song, usually with a video by the musical group that made the song, but I was more specifically referring to the opening/closing. You can find the intros and outros in a somewhat decent quality most of the time, but if they show is ongoing or new, it can prove to be a challenge at times; however, for Crunchyroll who already possesses rights, it wouldn't be removed and it would be in the same quality as if you watched the episode. I still have a playlist for some songs on YouTube, but some of my favorite ones don't last long.

I'm glad to see that someone else does the same occasionally haha! I like to listen to one song, or a mix of songs, while I play games sometimes.

I thought it would be cool to see Crunchyroll offer the full songs to purchase in the store, but again, these are all just ideas. I know it isn't easy or possible to just snap fingers and have things appear. I enjoy Crunchyroll and the anime, so I would like to see the site grow and expand and add little extra things that make the site unique.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's a good idea. It's just probably too much work to be implemented when you can already find most intros and outros on YouTube. And if you can't find them on YouTube as the actual intro you can still usually find lyric videos for the song.

Also not sure if it would still count towards using the video license since at that point you would be playing just the song specifically. Feels like it could then turn into a licensing issue with the group that made the song. But Idk about licensing so that's purely speculation.

I see what you mean. I agree that one of the biggest problems would be the fact that it is just too much work. I still think it would be great to have the intro and outros on the same 1080p quality all across the board, though. That isn't something you can usually find on YouTube. Of course, some people might not care about that haha. Not that I'm trying to be like "I'm right and you're wrong" or anything, I just like to try and make sure everyone is at full understanding of what is being discussed just incase someone comes along and reads all of this and would like to make a remark, as well. I completely agree that it could be a crap ton of work just to add something seemingly minor, though. That was a large concern I had about the idea.
