It has been revealed that Monster will not be receiving an LA adaptation from HBO as they have turned him down. This appears to be a shame as HBO have produced many amazing shows in the past such as The Wire, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective and Game of Thrones. Del Toro is still pitching to other studios... Could this be a good thing? In order to watch HBO shows legally the costs can be quite high and inaccessible to many. By having Monster done by another studio could this increase the popularity and availability of the show to the public? Just because HBO have created masterworks doesn't mean we should discredit other studios especially when they have such brilliant source material and a talented director behind them. Personally, I hope Netflix picks up Monster as they have recently displayed their prominence in the TV industry. What are your opinions on it all? Are you still excited? Disappointed? What studio do you want to pick up Monster?

There are other options besides HBO. It's not necessarily the end of the story.

Lol yes I know. About more than half of what I said was discussing how other studios could be good. I wanna know what studio you would like to see do Monster?

AMC, Netflix, pretty much anybody who would foot the bill while staying out of the creative process would be good.

I can definitely see Netflix picking it up, they'd do a good job with it I'm sure.

I really don't think it would be the most expensive series to produce; there's probably a number of studios that could foot the bill, and the concept is already western enough that it wouldn't take much to make the series have mass appeal. I'm actually surprised HBO didn't pick it up; maybe they didn't have a place for it in their schedule?

Netflix seems like an obvious choice, though AMC wouldn't be a bad choice either. Both of them have solid track records on adapting comics to live action.

Netflix should totally pick it up, that'd be the best bet imo besides HBO.

Monster is one of the few anime that seems like it'd be great as a live action series, hope it happens.

Seems like the general consensus is that Netflix would be great to do Monster. Possibly even AMC. Let's not forget that Breaking Bad got turned down by HBO too and what a show that turned out to be.

Could definitely see Netflix picking it up considering they've made statements that they want to expand their anime-related market and a live-action Monster would be a great step in the right direction.
