Look. I know that you Americans aren't going to give up your guns any time soon, but there at least needs to be a restriction on the type of guns you can carry around with you. Anything more than a small caliber handgun is just ridiculous, to me.

And the reasoning for that would be what? If I'm a crazy person or criminal, or just someone who decides to just do some shit, do you honestly think the type of gun is going to matter when it starts pegging people?

The only thing that would do is possibly reduce the death count/damage and that's entirely up for debate.

I get what you're saying, but much like the far left and far right, you're focusing on the wrong issue.

Be that as it may, I see no reason for a member of the public to be allowed to carry around, say, an automatic rifle, like nothing. What would be the point? Could they not just enjoy the use of such weapons in privacy, and have a less... ridiculous weapon for "protection"? Even putting aside the debate of nothing stopping a determined criminal, is it not just commonsense to put a limit on what kinds of guns you could carry around with you in public?

You know it's easier to make an automatic rifle than a semi-auto right? On top of that anyone could replace the mechanism for a semi and turn it into an auto easily. To top it off untrained persons that attempt to use a full auto tend to hold the trigger down for too long and waste most of their ammo plus kill any accuracy they might have had.

semi weapons are more dangerous unless your shooting a wave of people charging at you and you cannot possibly miss because with semi you have to aim before pulling the trigger.

I almost bought a MAC10 with suppressor, it's a "cheap" full auto, it would have been almost 10 grand out the door with all the stamps.

I do have three guesses which people will show up and talk crazy for hours on end. Maybe we should do some off track betting on it.

Yeah, but are they crazy crazy, or they the ones that just to like to F with people. Haven't been here long enough to sort out the truly sarcastic vs just plain stupid people yet...

Why shouldn't people carry their guns where they want to go? I mean if you want to carry your 7 pound AK 47 with you to class, sure. It just will get pretty heavy and cumbersome after a while. It wouldn't be very practical. Also people would probably think you were weird. Probably wouldn't get invited to parties.

Open carry and Concealed carry should be allowed if you are allowed to own the weapon. If I carry a gun around no one is going to get hurt, unless someone tries robbing someone else infront of me.

So you are in favor of stricter control on who gets to own a gun to ensure that every gun owner meets the same standard?

The standard is that you are an American citizen as defined in the constitution as you should know if you had read the constitution. If you haven't heard of it then here is the bill of rights.

So you say that "if you are allowed to own the weapon, you should be allowed to carry it wherever you go".
Then you say "everybody should be allowed to own a gun"

So do you really think that everybody should be allowed to carry a gun wherever they go? And do you really think that everybody meets the standard of "if I carry a gun around, no one is going to get hurt"?

Yup everyone besides those that have been proven dangerous to themselves and others. It's called the right to a fair trial and it is also one of our founding principals.

Yeah, many people where I live always keep guns on them. No one gets hurt. Have you ever tried hanging out around people with guns before and seen how uneventful it is? Really 99.99% of time carrying around a gun is boring and forgettable.

That's what pistols are for. Weird? You obviously haven't grew up in the midwest where people group up to go drinking and shooting.

You'll have the guy that will show up and talk about his lawyer dad and how militia REALLY MEANS THIS NOT THIS. Then you'll have the one start talking about MUH CARS LICENSES AND WHY NOT GUNZ, then the one that will...

Then the Call of Duty kids will run in and trigger everybody and oh why don't I drink?

Fixed it for you

Though I would like to see less lead and more of non-toxic materials.

Alright. You seem to know way more about guns than I do, so I'll take your word on that. Still, to say you can carry any type of gun anywhere, as long as you're not crazy, of course, is still a little crazy. I just can't see the purpose in such a relaxed law.

Again, I know little about guns, and perhaps saying "like nothing" was an exaggeration. But like I said, what is the point of being allowed to carry any type of firearm in public? Yes, you guys have the right to bear arms, and all that, but surely, surely it's commonsense to limit that. Even to a small extent. Honestly, I just don't understand gun culture in America. Maybe that's why your attachments to them confuse me.

Texas just passed a law stating people can carry any type of gun openly any where, if you're not crazy. now some gun rights groups want to do this all over the country. they want to right to carry any type of gun, small are army size anywhere where ever they go and they want the right to buy any type of gun that is made.

not consider the rights argument. but psychologically speaking, what does this say about Americans? Are we progressing (meaning problems can be solved without a gun) or regressing(meaning the gun has become a security blanket)?

Texas has a lower gun murder rate than many places with much stricter gun laws.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state

Also, considering that we've got such a large border with Mexico, we're one of the states with the biggest drug import issues and related criminal element.

I'll let you interpret this however you want.

.. sorry but there isn't much anyone could really do if there is going to be some crazy ass person behind a weapon just like a drunk driver behind the wheel its not allways that predictable... sometimes it could be just a "normal" and "healthy" person....

well since its america they do need something to defend themselfs with if another ranged weapon gets used and you or many others would have nearly no chance of coming out alive.

once they got guns the other part needs something to use as well.
