Here the thing. The VN has people saying is good. Because is fully animate including sex and everything. Time decisions. A insane amount of good or bad ending for every route. From what I have read about the VN. Is a really good VN with a lot of sequels and spin off series. Is just the anime studio pick one the many bad route ends.

Exactly, no one gets that and just bashes on it without doing their homework. It's a good enough adaptation of a bad end of a series that's more fueled on game elements than it is story elements. It's fueled on the players enjoyment to challenge themselves and face the many horror's that come at the price of your decisions. There's not many time based vn's available to us either which just adds to it like say wolf among us, the fact the player has to rush to come to a decision makes the environment feel that much more alive.

No. The vn may have been good but the story for the anime was basically a porn without the porn. The fact that its just one route out of many they could have taken is irrelevant in the face that no one knew what the fuck was going on unless they had already played the vn.

Makoto didn't deserve a girlfriend as sweet and charming as Kotonoha.

OK so here the thing. When I first and last watch it. I couldn't stop watching it even thou I hate everything about it. I felt anger/cringes. I wanted to punch the wall. But I keep watching it. I keep going even if I wanted to stop.

So does anime that make you feel like that and you cannot stop watching it even thou you hate it. Is it good? Is it bad?
The reason I ask is that no other anime has made me feel so much anger than School Days.

But is it because is bad or because is different?

The main question is this. Even if you hate something if it make you feel something. Like anger or such negativity feelings. Does it make good or is just an excuse to be different?

I suppose you could say it was a masterpiece in getting attention and also a masterpiece at being disliked.

However, it didn't tell its story particularly well. First off, there was absolutely nothing to make the main character worth being interested in at all, much less being so great as to cause people to do what they did over him. Beyond that, the characters, as portrayed, were not believable.

With some more effort, they could have been; after all, there are people that treat others like the main character did, there are people that allow themselves to be abused like the one girl did and people that are dishonest as the other girl was. There wasn't enough justification, though, for all of the characters to allow things to go on to the extent that it did.

After a point, the only believable thing was for one of the three characters to reach their limit and do something that would defuse the situation. The main character might have realized he was creating a truly bad situation for everyone and stopped tempting fate. The girl that let herself be walked over could have realized that she wasn't going to get what she wanted from the guy (and that he wasn't that great if he treated her so). The girl that was dishonest could have realized that by simply being honest, she could get what she wanted without all the problems (and also, that the guy was not that great and that she could do better).

Instead, they all allowed things to spiral out of control, without a believable justification. Was it a spectacular end? Absolutely. Was it a good show? Not particularly.

I must admit I read the title, skimmed the first post and some others and ended up ignoring the actual questions in the post when I made my other reply. Having read your post again, I'll work on those questions in this reply.

I think it's worth noting that what you describe feeling towards School Days is similar to the effect of a well done troll. People hate it, want it to go away, get angry at it, etc. But they keep looking at it, feeding it, etc. Despite being despised, it gets attention.

So I'll answer your questions as to whether it is good, bad, etc., with a question of my own: Do you feel a piece of media should troll its audience?

The visual novel was actually the best selling visual novel ever at the time it was released. Most people who have a go at this anime, dont have a clue that it is based on a very graphic and very adult visual novel.

Except for the fact that I wasnt aware that it was a vn adaption when I watched it and it came across to me as a stupid anime where all the girls fall for this one guy for no reason other than he's just the main character and at the end if just falls apart for him. Sure the vn may be good but the anime was just so drab to the individual who was just watching for the story.

I didnt findthe story bad because the main character was so reprehensible. I found it bad because it was just so stupid. Everything just falls into place for this one character because whynpt? He's just the main character so everything goes how he wants it to go. It just didnt' make sense tome.

I could read the vn and it change my opinion on the story in general. But i seriously doubt that it would change my perspective of the anime in general.

Oh and I wont argue that, it was definitely stupid. I mentioned it, because alot of people are put off by some of the more violent 'themes' so I just wanted it noted that its based on something rather dark to begin with.

And how many anime genres do you watch? In case you didnt know, this a genre called Harem, where all the girls fall for the main guy for absolutely no reason. There is an entire genre for exactly that stupid plot point. Which for some reason is very popular.

The dfference being that (in favor of most harem anime) at least the main character doesnt treat everyone other than the current girl that hes trying to seduce like shit. Makoto just plain out ignores the girls that hes already taken advantage of after the fact.

To be fair. Most harem have a valid reason for the girls to like the guys. Especially modern harems. No matter what harem I watch. The girls have a least one reason to like him like that. But School days doesn't even offer a reason. Is just retarded. No to mention the guys don't treat the girls like shit. Nor they are this amazingly mental.

Nope . . .

From my perspective, it's like a car accident . . . and everyone slows down to watch for some blood....

The VN might've been pretty good but we're talking about the anime . . .
