Nope, the anime needed a whole lot more saving grace. Can't speak for the VN as I never read/played it.

OK so here the thing. When I first and last watch it. I couldn't stop watching it even thou I hate everything about it. I felt anger/cringes. I wanted to punch the wall. But I keep watching it. I keep going even if I wanted to stop.

So does anime that make you feel like that and you cannot stop watching it even thou you hate it. Is it good? Is it bad?
The reason I ask is that no other anime has made me feel so much anger than School Days.

But is it because is bad or because is different?

The main question is this. Even if you hate something if it make you feel something. Like anger or such negativity feelings. Does it make good or is just an excuse to be different?

Not when people miss the point of the original source material being a Yandere simulator.

Here the thing. The VN has people saying is good. Because is fully animate including sex and everything. Time decisions. A insane amount of good or bad ending for every route. From what I have read about the VN. Is a really good VN with a lot of sequels and spin off series. Is just the anime studio pick one the many bad route ends.

The only saving grace was the sex scenes. Here's the thing. Both heroines are so boring unless you go on a cheating rampage. Boring. And you know what? Heroines are the reason why most people play dating sims. Kotonoha was placed in your typical victim role, but they never expanded on her. She was clearly something to be sought after, but without much introspection as to why. Exactly, why would anyone date Kotonoha? Because she's cute? But that's all she has going for her besides the victim role she plays. You're meant to sympathize for her, not with her. In my opinion she was the worst heroine. Sekai, on the other hand, was far more interesting, but even then she had her flaws. She played the role of "the other woman" well, but beyond that, they never expanded her beyond her role, like Kotonoha. She was merely just "the other woman".

Now where did I think the VN did well? Well, spoiler alert, it has something to do with Taisuke.

Here's my problem with School Days anime. The ending was forced. Makoto didn't dump Kotonoha, despite not getting anything from her. He has shown the capacity about not giving a damn about her, thus cowardliness is clearly not the excuse we're looking for. He just dragged her on, purely so she can go crazy, and they can get back together at the end, for the nice boat ending. And it was SO BORING. Seriously. I've seen better love triangles in young adult novels than this. Now I have to give it props for actually not being cringe worthy, like say Twilight or The Hunger Games, but in my opinion we're introduced to a long spiral of anger and mistreatment, only to get meager pay off at the end. Not to mention Kotonoha's psychotic breakdown before Taisuke rapes her in the anime sorely needed context as to why. In anime, unlike real life, people don't go crazy, and things don't just happen randomly. There needs to be a cause. Are we suppose to just assume "hey, that bitch is crazy at birth!"? No, we're suppose to understand why.Which is another reason why it is forced.

For $40? Uncensored sex scenes? That's cheaper than Clannad on sale on Steam.

Thankfully they took my suggestions and include Otome's imouto Karen and Kotonoha's Kokoro in later sequences, so basically for the lolicons they covered those bases. Hell, they even have a cross dressing guy and every girl's mother into the mix. I've yet to play the sequels, and I don't know the legal issues of it, but yes, it does feature clearly sex scenes with underage girls and what appears to be no cuddling. I don't know how to feel about this. I mean, what kind of person they think I am? I would never lust after an imouto! Imoutos are for snuggling!

Episode 1 - He is stupid
Episode 2 - He is annoying
Episode 3 - He is retarded
Episode 3 - Oh for f*** sake, dude.
Episode 4 - Ugh...
Episode 5 - This is shit.
Episode 6 - Same as above
Episode 7 - Same as above
Episode 8 - Same as above
Episode 9 - Same as above
Episode 10 - Same as above
Episode 11 - Same as above
Episode 12 - "The moral of the story is..."

Eleven episodes of pure shit just to wrap it up in the twelfth and final episode does not qualify an anime as "good" in my book. I'm glad you enjoyed it, so I'm not advocating "don't watch it" or "don't make more of it", but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece when I can basically do the same thing with a game of Jenga; set up twelve blocks, and then kick the fucking shit out my window. I mean, that's School Days in a nutshell.

Yes. In some routes he doesn't even know its a guy till the end, though what I watched is a bit shady.

School days is not that bad. Sure the hate is there for Makoto. But atleast it did not stop me from watching it fully. Compared to that, I can't even watch the most harem shows past 2 episodes, since it's basically the same shit recycled.

I think a lot of harems could be good if they focused on the characters, as harems tend to be character driven if it is the main plot point. One of the biggest failures about School Days it uses the concept of a love triangle as its main plot point, while ignoring characters simultaneously. The characters are just there to fulfill their roles and not much else, when characters and their conflicts should've been paramount above all else, instead of this copy and pasted melodrama we got instead.

The anime is an original ending, it's not one of the routes in the VN, if anyone is wondering. (<- Played the VN). I do have a review of School Days on my profile if you want to see what I think about it. But yeah, I liked it.

It's not masterpiece. But, it's also not as bad as people make it out to be either. Personally I found it boring and pretentious until the ending.
