What is this about

You don't know what a Jedi is or what Star Wars is?

I know star wars. And I don't like it. Jedi? Never heard of it.

Jedi are most typically the guys with the blue and green light sabers. They use the "light" side of the force.

You should find this guy familiar.

I actually enjoyed the prequels the most, much to the disarray of the circle jerk prequel hate.

Glad to here it, I just watched all three movies a few days ago. I want to watch the prequels and then maybe see the 7th movie.

My thinking on the matter is that the Jedi became stagnant and rigid because of their devotion to discipline, and so the very thing that lent them their strength (stability) became their weakness as they pursued it ever more. Worse yet, the Jedi's commitment to self-deprivation and severance of all personal ties to the world for the sake of better allowing the Force to guide their decisions rather than the other way around is exactly the sort of lifestyle that ended up driving people to swing the pendulum so far in the other direction when they turned. It is not possible for a person to simply stop feeling things like love, sadness, fear, and anger, and it is not in the interest of their long-term mental health to try.

The Sith, meanwhile, have the exact opposite problem. Instead of trying to suppress their emotions they attempted to amplify them, and while it's healthy to strive to be happier this isn't what a Sith does. Their attempts to amplify emotional states such as anger, sadness, or fear were absolutely devastating for their mental health, and a system of progression built upon deception and betrayal only worsens things by encouraging unseemly behaviour and breeding a state of perpetual paranoia. Sith aren't free, they're slaves to their emotions as much as Jedi are slaves to their quest to not have emotions.

Grey Force Users FTW. Screw the Sith and the Jedi.
