Yeah, and I sometimes don't feel short.

Doesn't change the fact that I'm 4'11'' and fully grown.

Don't forget that the way house prices have risen a lot of average suburban houses and city house now cost over a million. You could be asset rich but not that wealthy due to not having much disposable income.

I remember the poor fishing families in Maine. A lot of them owned substantial beachfront properties that had been in the family for generations.

Maine fixed that asset rich, money poor problem for them. The state raised their property taxes through the ceiling and auctioned their land off for vacation homes when they could not pay. Now, they are just poor.

My wife is 4'10" and threatens physical violence on anyone that calls her short.

Money isn't as valuable as it used to be, which makes a million dollars seem like nothing. Someone with a 40,000 dollar a year job gets 400,000 dollars in 10 years excluding taxes. So in about 20 years you almost have a million going through your fingers yet most people with that kind of job still live paycheck to paycheck. The reason most people don't end up getting a good amount of savings is because of almost inevitable debt from student loans and mortgage payments. We also live in a materialistic culture that views owning expensive things as making you more important than other people. With the right saving techniques, discipline, and hard work anybody has the chance to have enough money to have a good retirement and some money to give to their children when they die.

To do something so ridiculously inconceivable to most people just because they can? Hell if I had that money, I'd plant a shit ton of explosives (of the nonradioactive variety) on the moon and blow it up right when all the debris rain on Hawaii, and the moon will forever have a scar saying "It's my money, I do what I want! $"

Here is a good analogy for you guys -

How many of you guys play videogames? When you play an arcade style videogame do you want a high score? Do you feel good when you top the list? If you don't, you keep playing and work your way up the charts.

Sometimes having a large bank account/brokerage is how people "score" their lives. Life is alot like a shitty videogame (anybody watch The World God Only Knows)
