Lets get ready to rumble in this clash of the titans of anime/animation. In the red corner representing for the east we have the one and only studio Ghibli who resides in the hearts of every anime fan, in the blue corner representing for the west we have the unconquerable Walt Disney who has bought joy to the masses young and old. In this fight we will be focusing on Disney's classic animation style and all of the Ghibli's back catalog to date.

So without further hesitation discuss below who possesses the greater potential to best the other, and who would win in an all out brawl and why.

I would say it depends on the story you're after, Disney has generally cheery films and some dark elements which capture our hearts. Whereas Studio Ghibli can really express themselves whether the films are cheery or Dark, but also emotionally attach you to their characters.

Walt Disney have a wide repertoire of fairy tales to use, whereas Ghibli uses folklore and more historical based stories to inspire them. So in terms of originality I would give to Ghibli, Disney is far more recognised universally in my opinion so I'd give that aspect to Disney.

This is difficult for me to give such an impartial view as some of my favourite films lie in both camps, but I would say for me, and nostalgic reasons I'm going to say that Disney would win in this bout.

I love both studios for there art and moving stories, however Disney tend to have happy endings where as Ghibli aren't afraid to break your heart ( i dare you to watch "Grave of the Fireflies" and not be moved) They also never do sequels leaving it up to your imagination as to where it would go (if you wish to discuss Ghibli sequels check out our "[Disc]Studio Ghibli Sequel topic") also Hayao Miyazaki directed the series "Lupin The 3rd" which is an amazing timeless series. So I will side with Ghibli. But it is a close call.
