I feel that due to openings of different anime gives bands an opportunity to market themselves globally to fan-bases that enjoy the opening music and thus with anime becoming more popular this has given Japan's music industry more exposure to others.

But the different songs each individually resonate with others and causes them to look for sounds and songs of similar styles or branch into a whole sub-genre of the larger umbrellas.

Back before Japan got involved in making electric guitars the Americans dominated the industry with companies like Fender and Gibson and although they were beautifully made their price was out of reach for the majority of people.
Then companies like Yamaha introduced a budget electric guitar which although was at the time inferior and couldn't hold its tuning very well it made the instrument open to everyone and sparked a mass of young musicians which in turn created loads of bands. This is also true of synths and keyboards and are now through experience are of a high standard in the market, so even if you don't appreciate Japans music they did without a doubt aid in making the industry as strong and diverse as it is today.
