There has been a large number of nightcore channels on youtube and has appealed to many as there are a wide variety of songs raging from rock to pop but is it a genre or just tracks played fast raising the pitch in the process. Have your say here.

I love nightcore, often i find the nightcore versions better than the original too.
It can be a genre in it's own I guess but for the most part isn't as you've put it most songs are just a pitch raise.
Still awesome though ^^

I also love nightcore as they have my fav songs but faster so i can dance harder lol
but i personally don't believe it is a genre if we class a sped up version as a genre then vinyl dj's would have been doing remixes for every song as to match the beats per minute the record was sped up or slowed down and this would effect the pitch so in my opinion its not (That woun't stop me from listening to it though )

I guess I wouldn't consider Nightcore a genre, as any DJ can change a tempo of a song, I don't really go out my way to look for nightcore but when I do stumble across it I guess it depends on whether it does the song justice or not. xP

I would only call it a genre if a person actually put more effort into it, mixing it, adding stuff to it,...
But most of the nightcore songs on youtube are just songs with a pitch raise, even a 6year old could probably manage to pull that off XD.
maybe :3
But yeah 'nightcore' sounds more awesome than just using the original name of the song and add- 'in raised pitch'.

But seriously, that's a hard question if you ask me.Some songs are just faster, other's sound completely different from the originals.

if it's covered by a different artist from the original and the slower copy is not released just the higher pitch and speed one i would call that a remix

I do enjoy the Nightcore, it can improve the original song.. I made a night core song once.

But Nightcore is essentially speeding up a song and make it more high pitch.. So in a sense its not its own genre but it would be absolutely great if there was a genre based on nightcore.
