Sure, at face value, it is justified. I mean, mankind has done some truly horrific things.

If you take a deeper look at it, I don't think it's honest or realistic. Mankind has just begun on its journey through life, in the grand scheme of things. You can't really find fault in the fact that we've got faults. If you do, you're being unrealistic.

If aliens have visited, they probably haven't made themselves known due to our issues, but at the same time, they haven't held it against us to the point of destroying us. And if aliens have not, but do visit us in the future, I'd like to think that they realize humanity is still in the early stages of growth, and would be kind enough to spare us.

People who hate mankind would find more productivity in understanding this and trying to fix mankind, the best they can, for future generations.

EDIT: I do think that hating ourselves for being omnivores who eat meat is probably the worst reason. Animals are not as intelligent as humans, they do not think as humans do. We don't torture agricultural animals, that's a myth, and pets are more likely to be the subject of animal cruelty. In fact, distress before death can cause a poor taste in meats, so it is generally avoided. Pigs are probably the most intelligent agricultural animals, but if you kill a pig and leave it in the pen, the other pigs will eat it. Chicken eat chickens, too. And if cows ate meat, I'm sure cows would eat cows. Agricultural animals have no understanding that they are simply meat, they just live happy lives until they die so that we can live. Sure, be thankful for it, but don't hate yourselves over it.

Hell, people trip me out. They can sit there and watch stories about rape and murder on the news, never batting an eye, and then cry at the humane society commercials.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

why does it need to be justified?

Is someone not allowed to feel a certain way just because its the way their brain thinks of things? asking if its "justified" implies there is some negative effect being casued by it; and to my knowledge there is none besides the misanthropist wallowing in his own misery and hatred.

Only The Last Psychiatrist is allowed to be misanthropic.

It is our nature to have hate towards mankind, because of what mankind has done, and still doing today. Of course it is justified, if we never had hate towards mankind then nothing will be done. People would be taken advantage of, tortured, humiliated, and shunned, all for the reason of evil. If we do not stop evil, evil will become us.

We were all created to see what this world has become. If we do not see what mankind truly is then we will never move forward. If we never admit that there is something evil with humankind we will never learn. We learn more from forgiveness than from hate, but in order to forgive we must hate, that is the only way we can understand.

We cannot just blindly accept mankind, we can't say everything is OK, even though there are still good people in this world, we are more focused on the evil in the world..... why? Because it is a message, but most can't seem to understand that message. We learn from failure so we may correct it, we learn from tragedy so we may correct it, we learn from destruction so we may correct it. All these things humanity has done, so why haven't we learned to evolve yet?

If I justify misanthropy, it's mostly for selfish reasons. Most of the time I'm just like "Ugh; people are stupid."

Same as Gross1985.

I don't get people, therefore fuck people. I don't get women, therefore fuck women.

Same concept. Depends on my mood. Usually it's just my frustrations with not understanding why people tick the way they do. Nothing truly rational about it. The worst personal experiences can do that sometimes. It's only temporary though.

It's not actually legitimately justified, only rationalized and understood at times.

It's based on how you feel towards people and women?
