School Day's isn't as bad as people make it out. It's an interesting subversion but accurate representation of the harem genre. Considering how cookie cutter the genre is a few more anime willing to take more risks like School Days wouldn't be too bad in my opinion.

I have to agree. I actually enjoyed School Days quite a bit. I thought it did a great job of turning the harem anime on its head. I really like the way it came to a very conclusive end without leaving anything open for potential sequels, too. A lot of shows such as Elfen Lied drive me crazy with their ambiguous endings just in case they receive funding to make another season.

I think the problem with School Days is all the loud voices saying it's crap. Then, when someone sees it, they're so convinced it's going to be crap that all they are capable of seeing is crap. I also think people just can't understand Kotonoha's character. I could rant on more about this, but I'd be going into spoiler territory.

Attack on titan in my opinion is bad. And to top it off the fan base is the absolute worst

I don't see why people say FLCL is so great. From what I saw, the most amazing thing about it was the soundtrack. I'd like to think that these people are blinded by nostalgia since I've seen a few people talk about watching it when they were teenagers.

Also, I don't think Toradora is as good as a lot of people say it is. It isn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's really good either. Just decent. I only really liked one of the characters and the last few episodes of the series annoyed me.

Yeah the fanbase is pretty horrid.

My personal favorite to pick on is Mahouka.

Mahouka, a.k.a the Shiba Tatsuya show, was worse than everyone made it out to be and it became unexpectedly hilarious when Tatsuya became Jesus towards the end. The light novel was not much better no matter what the fans say; Madhouse did their best but salvaging the show was impossible.

And the manga was pretty crap. At least it had good art, but grade school literature taught me that all literature must have conflict, and that Deus Ex Machina is a bad form of resolution. Mahouka lets you know that all problems will be solved with Deus Ex Machina from the beginning, thus it renders its own conflict pointless from the beginning. To me, it read more like very bad self-insertion fan fiction of another magic high school series, written by a Miyuki fan.

FLCL, I don't get either. FLCL seemed to be the next Gainax thing people watched after Eva... that's the impression that I got, but it was a bunch of random stuff happening one after the other without much coherence. It's one of those shows where I'm curious to know how someone could be entertained by it, because I cannot fathom how.

And on the other side of the spectrum...

Think I heard Log Horizon 2 getting some hate, but at worst, I think it's average. The first season is definitely better, but the second is still better than a lot of other stuff out there.

I've never heard of Log Horizon hate. The worst I've seen is dislike for Deen causing season 2 to have even worse animation. Log Horizon isn't as popular as all the other stuck in a game world anime. not enough fawning over the main character I guess; *cough* SAO, Overlord, Hestia *Cough*. I'm joking, it's fine to like those shows, but they really are power fantasies. Heck I watched Dungeon just to figure out the blue ribbon. I just think it's a little too shallow which is why I dropped SAO and Overlord. I hope the Phantasy Star anime is good, but I'm not counting on it.

The Phoenix Wright anime gives me hope for a successful anime adaptation and I would stake my bets on that.

What I don't get is how people change their opinions of franchises based on the "fanbase". The work exists independently of its fans. Similarly, hating something simply because it's "too popular" or "overrated" is silly. It might actually be good! Try it first.

School Days causes awfulness buffer overflow making it become totally hilarious instead!

Indeed.

''To many people love this'' will never be valid criticism.

Well, there are a few shows that I didn't think they are as good as people claimed. First one would have to be Cowboy Bebop. I thought it was a boring show that featured a really great ending. Besides that, it's probably one of my least favorites animes. Another show is one that came out this year and it is Your Lie in April. Sorry, I can't stand it when the main protagonist cries a lot. I believe every single episodes featured a character crying and whether it was the main character or not, at a certain point you lose empathy with the characters. While there was character development for the main guy, it took far too long. But once again, the final episode was very very well done. However, it doesn't redeem the show for me. The last one for me is Hunter X Hunter. The first shounen I ever got into was Naruto so, I'm coming off as biased of course. Hunter X Hunter just didn't have high enough stakes and it lacked hype moments. Outside of Kurapika vs Uvogin and Meruem vs Netero, there weren't any intense fights. Two of its final arcs were paced poorly. As so many people boasted how great the Chimera Ant arc was, it dragged the show down for me. It was way too drawn out and the way the villains went out were so lame. The show built up these bad ass villains just for them to go out without a fight, except Neferpitou. My opinion may hold less weight since I acknowledged Naruto was the first shounen I got into, but for all the crap that Naruto gets for its constant flashbacks and fillers, when it wants to commit to a fight, it delivers. Naruto has its flaws and it's not a great show either, but I think it does Hunter X Hunter better than the show itself. I will acknowledge that despite being disappointed with how the Chimera Ant arc ended, at the same time it was a fantastic way for Meruem to go out. Regardless of what I just said, I still think it's a decent show, but not as great as many people make it out to be.
