Yeah man, you can talk shit to cops even and they can't do anything legally. Though if they're corrupt the might frame or beat your ass for something.

Though I think being too loud qualifies as disturbing the peace.

So just because you have the right to insult doesn't mean you should?

No doubt about it, that is just one of the downsides to freedoms.

Yes, freedom of speech means you do have the right to insult someone. They may bring up slander and libel charges against you but that's a civil law issue.

Freedom of speech is not freedom from offense.

I've always said you have the freedom to do anything or try to do anything, but you don't get to choose the consequences.
Freedom of speech (US wise) is more that I can say "my government sucks." Or "this president/other politician sucks" and not go to jail for it.

Obviously...Literally no point if freedom of speech just covers popular opinion and compliments. Also, Libel and Slander aren't just saying something mean, it is publicizing a complete lie. There is also things like inciting a riot or death threats which are also covered. Apart from that you should be able to say whatever the hell you want to say. If not your words aren't free, and if you can't speak no other freedom is safe.

I think it pretty much means you can say whatever you please, even if someone will deem it offensive, obscene, or extreme. Freedom of speech within the boundaries of written law isn't technically "illegal", so it falls under "free speech", no matter how much you hate it. Groups that actively promote hate speech against certain groups are monitored by the FBI, most normal people who'll say insulting things occasionally or rather mildly insulting things- are within legal boundaries to say it.

Yes. Don't cry when you're called out on it, though.
