You have the right to say whatever you want as long as you're not hurting anyone. For example, you can call the mayor of your city a retard who probably sleeps with kids, but you can't yell "fire" in a crowded place like a movie theater. Although if you're insulting someone to the point where you're emotionally/psyhcologically abusing someone, you'll probably have a tough time explaining that in court...

Well there is somewhat of a difference between constructive criticism and just flat out verbal abuse.

I think freedom of speech should obviously support constructive criticism. Since criticism usually is motivated by the urge to see improvement.

Insulting is exactly as it is, verbal abuse/unneeded verbal attacks.

But I yes I think it does support freedom to insult. Unfortunately freedom of speech works like a double edge sword.

You have the right to be an asshole, doesn't mean you have to be one.

Although capitalism is extremely corrupt and doesn't work in Western society (in my opinion), "freedom of speech" is normally meant to be a political concept.

In many cases, yes. In other cases, no. For example, not having freedom of speech could mean that people are not allowed to speak against their leaders or ideas.

Offense is taken, not given.
