You should try looking up a "hobby shop", which is somewhere they sell things like Magic the Gathering, Warhammer, manga, board games, video games, comics, etc, etc. They usually gather communities of nerdy people who love things like anime and other hobby-esque type interests. There's almost always at least one in any given town, look around, you'll find something!

I definitely think it will, it's not about just retail selling anime discs, it's about the whole environment where people can go in and meet a community of local, fellow anime-lovers to hang around with and watch anime together. Also says in the post that they're a gaming store so he'd likely hold gaming events which would be super fun. Seems like it could be really popular if he plays his cards right, imo

Perhaps.. We shall see

I wish there was a big demand for anime themed gear in my area...

I remember when Anime Crash tried to start itself as a national chain, with stores in college towns like NYC and Harvard Square, back when A) there was no Amazon, and RightStuf still sent out 200-pp. catalogs, B ) anime was still on 2-ep. VHS's for $35, and C) only comic-book fans had heard of anime, what little there was of it between violent OVA's and Gundam series.

It was a noble idea, until they got too full of themselves and tried going the Netflix/CR route of trying to co-produce some anime, and then ambition starting disintegrating the chain from within.
Ever since, the Internet took over, and it's been hard to beat it since.

Okay 10 minutes away nice to know thanks not the best location but you take what you can get in this town. A bunch of new hobby shops have popped up in town lately nice to see since the WOTC (Wizards Of The Coast) wipe out in the 90's. Close to the base and just down the street from the bus transit center.

I should open one where I live. There is literally none within a 2 hr drive, and I know there are enough fans for it.

I'm in the UK so it doesn't really benefit me. But it's always good to see more anime establishments. And of course, people being able to make a business out of something they enjoy and love.

This...this is totally what I want to do around where I live! All we have here is one big F.Y.E. in the biggest mall around here, which is pretty small compared to the big city ones, and a Hot Topic in the same mall that carries some anime stuff. F.Y.E. has started to carry more anime stuff lately, but it's still pretty lacking for most of it.
