I've been thinking about immortality, and if transferring consciousness is easy by matching the electrical synapse at 150m/s, then all that's left is a suitable body to transfer the consciousness to. So it gets down to two options and I would like to hear your opinion as well as which option you would prefer.

1. Human body: This would be the case where you fertilize the egg and sperm in an incubator to grow a human being from scratch so you can eventually transfer the consciousness into it. The problem is it would be hard because a consciousness can be naturally developing, so you need a way to inhibit the consciousness from developing, while at it you need to keep track of the blood flow, heart beat, and all the essential elements a human body would need until you transfer the consciousness into the body. The up side is it is a human body, so once you have the consciousness in, you are set. There is also ethical concern about this concept.

2. Android body: This is where it gets tricky. You are using a technique similar to 3d printing to print the structure of the brain with neuronal structures. It does not have to be real neurons, but structure that would allow membrane potential and transferring of electrical signals. If the brain plasticity is not a factor and it eventually becomes static then it might be doable. You can keep check of the consciousness of this artificial brain, and you can transfer the consciousness into it whenever you like it. The problem is you would become an android, no one has done it before, and I am not even sure if you need to breath. The up side is the body can maintain for as long as it needs, you don't need heart beat, breathing, and all those essential elements and can probably get by with just the synthetic brain itself, of course you need to get limbs, body, and probably a pair of eyes. You can 3d print as fast and as many replacement parts as needed.

For me, I really would like a human body because nothing works better than having a human body. The problem is keeping a body like this would be quite hard, this got me thinking about the android body, I really would like my eyes done right, so I can see, and I would probably want to breath as well.

Let me know which body you prefer and your idea behind it.

Actually immortality in a human body isn't possible since you can always die from something the better bet is slowing aging or reversing it in the human body. Which is actually closer then you think the android idea isn't uncommon in sci fi but is much further away then just controlling the aging process in the human body. Even the android form has weaknesses like data being destroyed in either case we are reaching the point where humanity is going to be living a lot longer.

So you know the experts on the subject have stated the first person to live to a 1000 is already living today since it is a matter of tech keeping pace with longevity. Which they should be able to do, the first step have already been taken they have reversed aging in mice which can be scaled up to people just a matter of time.

Alright so this is how humans are going to attain immortality. We are constantly trying to improve our technology, computers, and robots, now we will to a point soon enough maybe somewhere between 20-50 years to where we will have the technology to transfer the human consciousness into a computer. Now that we are in a computer there are multiple choices as what we can live as, maybe a humanoid robot or a giant transformer or whatever, but we also my choice would be none of these. We now have a mechanical brain that always our consciousness to travel through computers as data. We can go into any world in a computer, we can make our own new worlds inside computers and live in them. An anime world like sword art online, log horizon, one piece, Naruto, etc or we could make a world that is exactly like our world but we know all the laws and rules and are able to do whatever like space travel or live in some kind of star wars world. But since we are now data we can travel between all the worlds and live in any given world at any time inside a computer. That would be my choice living in a world in a computer any world any style anytime.

Im not down for immortality part of living is death. People need to just accept that everyone and everything dies and you need to use your time wisely. I

Honestly, I would rather not have immortality, but if I have to choose between the two, I would pick the android body. I could customize how I look that way.

(The first option gave me a good idea for a story...)

I don't know why people want to live forever
A life of paying bills and work doesn't seem fun.

Right now I'd say android body, but that's probably because I'm liking Genos right now, and he looks a bit like me. So I already have an imagine of how I'd look, which that look is cool as fuck.

Give me the option for immortality and I will NOT accept it. Why? Dying is part of the process of life and besides I would be taking up space for another unborn life and that's selfish in my opinion also I want to see what comes after this but God forbid right now.

I'd prefer immortality through ascension http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Ascension
But if I'd have to choose and the technology was perfected then I'd go for android as long as there were other androids, causes you know, I'd get lonely otherwise.

I believe the mind can be "copied" but that won't stop the original from dying and the copy won't learn.
