Hoo you get outraged much fair lady?Well..this is one of those times when people make big deal about small things when they don't want to change things that really matter because it's too much of a hassle.

Not like they do a genital check or are allowed to regularly

Though, with they way they keep changing the laws to favor "security" over privacy, it's probably only a matter of time before that becomes routine...

In fairness the UK is really bad when it comes to changing documents for people going through transitioning. This can lead to trouble there have been a ton of cases recently of banks thinking someone is committing fraud and locking people out of there account when there transgender. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/01/27/bank-ordered-to-pay-compensation-after-mistaking-trans-woman-for-fraud/

I think there is no harm if the gender column is there either in the passport or in a driving license. For transgenders, one more column can be added. It is for the convenience of the dealing officials. http://qwikfix.co.uk/dvla-contact/

so my sister is transgender living in the UK.. the whole gender on the drivers licence thing... actually didnt come up once.

i think regardless of how people identify themselves they should have to legally be classified by the parts they have at the time.

so no transgenders pre-op in the opposite sex bathroom. if you are really committed to your change - get the operation.

Also in regards to the fluigender - they should also have to legally identify the same.

I don't really see the big deal with making this a thing, seeing as it's much more logical to just have an "O" option along with "M" and "F" but I also don't see what the big deal about resisting it is. I mean who cares if gender is no longer listed on passports or licenses? What purpose does it even serve?

I also don't understand the people saying your gender description on your passport and license should match your genitals. If they get your weight just by asking, why can't they do the same with your gender?

Just worth noting, there is no field for gender on UK passport there is one for "sex"(I couldn't find sex or gender on UK drivers license but not going to say its not there), and while I don't personally care if that field shows up on a passport or a drivers license your sex is 100% based off of your genetics. So IF that field is there it shouldn't really be a concern for transgenders as their biological sex doesn't change.

actually... my sister (was brother) is now legally a female... and biologically except for the whole having babies thing.

i do believe theres a difference between ones perceived gender and legal gender.

people are trying to muddy the two

i think that people with gender dysphoria should be given some level of acceptance in society despite them having a mental disorder which is usually i think comparative minor to for example schizophrenia though i do think they can be more prone to more serious mental disorders at times. but when people start trying to set policies and such to cater to them i think that's going to far the furthest i think should be done is perhaps in some cases have a t or such for transgender not trying to remove male/female entirely or something dumb like that. plus their are also people who try and use transgenders as means to try and justify their insanity which is quite unfortunate since it would just make transgenders as a whole look bad.

I think they should also include a picture of the traveler's genitals along with their face pic on all passports.
