From the viewpoint of ultra-conservatives all liberals are extreme. I would say I'm liberal, and I don't really see a whole lot of extreme liberals.

Thats a fucking weird way of saying that. If you mean European countries tend to be much more liberal than US countries thats true.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense to use that wording. Denmark, Sweden, FInland, Norway.. are rather far left wing. Those countries, along with Iceland(which I don't have too much knowledge of to be frank) constitute the Nordic countries. With a far left leaning democratic government, you would expect many more extreme liberals. European countries wouldn't demonstrate the point well as Britain, Germany, Italy.. etc don't shine nearly as far left wing as the Nordic portion of Europe.

Scandinavia has been liberal since before the viking age, much to neo-nazi's disappointment; we've ventured out, brought back, and incorporated what we liked into our culture, not to close ourselves off from the outside world and its possibilities. We may be liberal, but we're not left or right; we're centrist.

At least hundreds of thousands. They're actually only a marginal percentage of the world, when you take into account that there's 7 billion people or so inhabiting this planet.

Somehow, that does not make them less annoying.

True. I probably did alienate many people who love me for my pervy antics with my extreme liberal views. I should stay out of political threads for a while.

Having dealt with tumblr, they blow pretty much anything you've said out of the water by being twenty times more belligerent, irritating, and using all sorts of words with the suffixes "-phobic" and "-ist".

Too many, sick and tired of all the far spectrum, from someone who sticks to the middle.

Heck even CR leans to the liberal side, mods too.

I lean on the left but agree we need to separate the wheat from the chaff. The left has been slowly marching towards extremism and we saw how well that works when a fringe movement starts hijacking a political party. You'd think people would have learned after the in-fighting from conservatives after they let the inmates run the asylum.

Moderate is the best ^.^

Understandable that CR leans liberal since they are based in San Francisco.

what the hell is an extreme liberal lmao

I think what a lot of people don't understand, however arbitrary this may be, is that the "liberal" identity, at least as far as the US is concerned, is far more centrist in ideology than the Leftist attribution it often receives. It's the same with the "conservative" identity, although there are new factions of conservatives who do fall somewhere to the Right of the political spectrum (and, for that matter, I suspect that with Bernie Sanders' candidacy for president, there will be new liberal factions who fall a little further to the left of the spectrum).

I'm assuming that what OP really means is "Leftist", to which I would simply respond, there are many. The Right/Center/Left paradigm in political theory has existed for at least the past three centuries, possibly even earlier if one really wishes to trace it back that far. I really don't think there are too many, because most Americans haven't been exposed to actual Leftist thought. We only really experience exposure through extremely watered down interpretations of key texts or through archaic McCarthyism style reporting in the media.

But of course, there's a lot of bullshit out there too, because even if someone says they're a communist or an anarchist, in a capitalist economy, money is a constant motivating factor, so there's a lot of academics, theorists, etc. etc. who will publish things that are allegedly ~controversial~ that are really just ill-informed nonsense.

There's absolutely nothing liberal about telling people how to live. These people are not liberals. Liberals support alternative lifestyles not because the lifestyle itself is important to them (though that might also be the case, depending on the person), but because freedom of expression is important to them. The "to hell with everyone different to me" stance taken by these "extreme liberals" is the exact same thing as the one taken by the people who think the way they're living is unnatural. They're just branded as liberals because their peers on the other side of the argument were there first, so they've gotta be something different, and liberals were different already. You don't call a snake a rabbit because it's in a fight with another snake. The real rabbits are out there doing their own thing.
