Before, I used to play RS2 and Rift. But if you ask me, I like Log Horizon quite a bit including the LN as well...
SAO though, not so much.

I hear that Log Horizon LN is a bit darker than the anime. Is there any true to that?

Kind of the opposite imo. There is some arcs that get occasionally dark but most of it is fantasy with more comedy especially for the first season. (even final few episodes had more lighthearted moments than I had expected)

Ah well, I guess I push it back on the list of reading.

I enjoy SAO. I play MMOs.

I don't expect.anime to perfectly reflect Japanese school life.
I don't expect anime to perfectly portray real-world physics.
I don't expect anime to perfectly capture the wide range of facial and body types that exist in the real world.
I don't expect anime to perfectly portray ANY even modestly complicated real-world social relationships: business, politics, family life, etc.
I don't expect anime to perfectly explain ANY even modestly complicated mechanical system: bicycles, cars, trains, planes, etc.

And I don't expect anime to perfectly capture MMO mechanics.

Give me interesting characters, an engaging storyline, and enough in-world consistency that I don't notice any major discrepancies while I'm watching, and who cares about the rest?

People who play MMO's look at Kirito's battles and say "No way, man, he could NOT have defeated that monster with only a Level 33 weapon without the defense powerup! It's totally unrealistic!!"
Oh, totally.
(All we dim WoW-illiterate folk just have to keep focusing on the story and characters, since that's all we know about...)

I do, however, remember watching Ash's battles on original-series Pokemon as a kid, and thinking "You're sending Pikachu in against a rock creature?...Yes, it's a dramatic climax, but are you freaking insane?? "

I have dabbled in playing MMO's but i don't really play them that much. With that being said, I really enjoyed SAO and Log Horizon. Can really get behind the concept just simply because I like video games so I can relate. Same even with Overlord even though he was the only actual person.

I'm pretty sure the majority hasn't there. I just don't have the time for games these days, and I'm more of a solo player as well.

I like SAO

I've been playing MMO's since Everquest was brand new.
When younger I spent 10 years in a hardcore raiding guild with my wife.
Now days I most just group with my friends & family.

I got bored watching Log Horizon.

I look at Kirito's battle and think about the times I showed up to raid with my epic 2.0 weapon, black chain bridle, or some other awesome piece of gear and got grilled on how I obtained it, because the raid leader knew damn well I did not get it in a guild raid.

P.S. I think there's a very obvious misunderstanding of what the term "special snowflake" means.

I like a lot of things. And I like SAO and MMOs. So yes. But you could easily say I don't count.

But I liked SAO. Bite me.

P.S. I think there's a very obvious misunderstanding of what the term "special snowflake" means.

I could only find this.

I don't see how this conflicts with how I used it.

Edit: Dear God, I made a hate thread. Should I close it?

I'm honestly unsure, but I think I /did/ start playing Entropia before watching SAO,

but that said,... that's really not fair?

"Do people who watch naruto actually practice ninjitsu?!"

"Do people who watch Noragami actually believe in gods?"

"Do people who watch Free! actually know how to swim and/or are in swimming teams?"

"Do people who like Haikyuu actually play volleyball?"

Yeah the list goes on. Why should SAO be any different?

Yeah this ^

I don't even game but I like SAO!!!!

Think of special snowflake not in the way of 'extremity in uniqueness' of individuals, but rather individuals using their differences specifically to acquire attention, pity, validation and legitimacy.

It's not about being different, it's about using differences for those sorts of rather nefarious purposes. Sometimes those differences are even falsely created. Ex. Otherkin.

That's why you don't go up to handicapped person and complain about how much of a special snowflake he must be for sitting in his wheelchair.

Your gripe with Dual Wielding is that it is unique. Someone doesn't get the term 'special snowflake' for simply having it--even if they are the only one to have done so.

You could argue Kirito had been a 'special snowflake', for instance, early on in the series when he proclaimed:

I'm a beater #unlike you peasants.

And nah, yah shouldn't. It's not that bad.

Well, I was doing it more that it appeals to special snowflake by calling him a special snowflake, although I suppose it could be taken as insulting the fanbase.

Meh, I don't think it does. You're worrying too much. If I called your favorite color stupid--I'm not insulting you.

Although anyone can take offense to anything in actuality, not that you should get a fuck about it.
