Like I said it was solid, not spectacular. Compared to what we usually get from other studios, it's definitely good. Even at their average level they can still produce some nice animation and visuals.

That's the point though. This isn't average for P.A. standards, it's bad. Which is definitely disappointing seeing how P.A. is normally a very consistent studio. I'm really struggling to call a production that offered so many mistakes in its initial episode solid. I feel like P.A. Works let me down.

You should probably get on that. BQ 6?

I didn't see too many fuck ups, honestly I don't know what you're so fed up about. The animation was fine. It was definitely passing.

It's gonna have to wait, probably for a while. I don't really have too much drive to go watch it atm.

Maybe give it another watch and pay more attention to it. Then again, it might just be that the horrible first impression influenced me a bit here. Though I am not the only one complaining, so while I might be exaggerating a little, it was definitely there, no doubt about it.

Like, I understand what you're getting at that PA puts out great to amazing visuals usually all the time, and that this doesn't hold up to what they usually do. I'm not denying that, I'm just saying even when they're not putting too much effort into this one compared to their usual stuff, it's still good when compared to everyone else. Thus, this is more "average" or "sufficient" for PA Works rather than their usual quality, but is still pretty good in the general sense. Studios like Deen and Arms wish their best could look like this. LOL! Goes to show how talented PA Works is.

tl;dr version: PA Works's visuals are still good even when they're mediocre for their standards.

What are we even talking about then? My problem was that you brought it up as something praiseworthy when it really isn't. I also didn't like the wording. I can hardly call it a solid production when it's shaky in many places. "Good" is also not a term I would use in connection with this series. That would suggest that it is quite a bit above the average, which it really isn't, neither in terms of the art nor when it comes to the fluidity of the actual animation. This season hasn't seen many series thus far but I sincerely doubt that HaruChika will manage to place in the top 20 % of the season, at least going from what I've seen in the first episode.

And comparing it to the bottom of the barrel doesn't really help. I'm just severely disapointed. I expected this to be a show with high production values, but it is not. It's really just average. And saying "well, they aren't even trying, gg, lol" isn't much of a positive point either. It's the exact opposite.

Not exactly what I expected based on the summary but it actually turned out better than the summary had led to me believe. Really good characters so far and the twist at the end of the episode was an excellent one. Really looking forward to see where this one goes but I could see it being near the top of the season if it continues strong.

I think you're being way too critical of it, but whatevs, this is a dead end conversation. I still think it's good, even if it's not their best. It doesn't need to be A material every time, B material is fine too every once in a while.

Young Kaname runs into Sayu with dark hair.. like the show but that's how I'll remember it for now. The leads expressions/style/mannerishs are redos from Nagi/Lull in the Sea of those two characters. Anyways atleast it's one PA show I won't have to worry about getting a decent full release since Funi is doing it. While not Lull/Glasslip/Shirobako visual quality it's still better than 75% of the stuff produced, just seems people are stuck on the visuals instead of what the story will be and are taking a dump on it.

That's what I keep seeing! So many reviews have been obsessed with the visuals not being what they hoped for. I want to know if the story is worth my time, haha!

Well, that is simply not true. I think a lot of people are not aware of how high the average porduction quality has gotten. Just compare this to the other releases of this season thus far.

If you don't really care all that much how a show looks and sounds, then fair enough. There are plenty of things that I don't really give a damn about. But I haven't seen anybody here or elsewhere say "well, the production is shaky, so it must suck". Most people are easily able to distinguish between the two, so the complaining about unfair treatment seems uncalled for.
