In some cases, say a reboot of the series for example, it's fine as long as it works well with the story, diversity for diversity sake is just bad.

For me, with shows I enjoy, I become immersed in the character entirely, both in personality and appearance, it just fits that this is how they should be in my mind. Like the new movie in the Harry Potter world.. it's actually pretty annoying. I associate Ron, Hermione, and Harry Potter a certain way, so to continue the immersion, their older selves should have some resemblance. They messed up Harry, making him a ginger, Ron not being a ginger, and they do a 180 on Hermione and make her black. That right there is a kick in the face to fans of the series, they give us an image of the character through 8 movies and then just throw it in the trash. Now that there sure as hell is diversity for diversity sake.

For bond & doctor who it wouldn't really irk me as much as there hasn't been 'one' main cast throughout the ages.

Madam Vastra is Sherlock Holmes, the Doctor just borrowed the name for a few minutes.

I'm talking about CLASSIC Doctor, sonny-Jim.
The reason why Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker both got BBC Holmes movies after their runs.

(And okay, Pertwee's Doctor was really more Prof. Quatermass, but you know why Baker's Doctor in Victorian London decides to put on a deerstalker cap and cape in "Talons of Weng-Chiang".)

It's already well established cannon that a Time Lord can change gender during a regeneration cycle.

I'm sure the doctor would love that too. according to missy, he has been a girl before, but its up to the viewer to believe her or not.

I am all for race and gender equality, and I would love to see more strong female characters on tv. But changing an already established character I think is stupid.

It has nothing to do with racism or sexism. James Bond is British white. (pretty sure a black guy would really stand out in Soviet Russia). The Doctor is a man. Thor is a man. Sherlock Holmes is British and his sidekick Watson is a man. These things shouldn't be changed. Rather than changing old characters through gender and race swapping, they should create new characters.

the master was a man too. yet everyone loves missy. a female doctor is the next logical step for doctor who to go in, but it is up to the actor to do it well.

Changing m to female never really bothered me at all , tbh, female loki never really bothered me at all, really. On the other hand, thor as a female was a little much to swallow imho. Kingpin becoming black, or Colonel Fury, not really bothered. I can't really go back into detail to reserch it atm, so I don't know, there -night- be some things I can't remember.

"Ginger" as in, red-haired, or as in, you want the show to be even more openly-gay than the first two new-series Russel T. Davies seasons, Torchwood included?

(After that "Big Brother" episode, there was no going back except to kick Davies out...)

And completely forgets about the Rani.

Even worse, they probably only remember Sylvester McCoy from the Hobbit movies.

I think you're really reading what I said wrong. I simply said there was a right and a wrong way to do it. That's all.

You don't like what I said? Fine, explain that.

However, your rants are much more clearly a lack of even understanding what I said in the first place.

Cheers

except that's untrue. She had merged with Sif in a similar way Thor merged with Don Blake and helped out Thor in a number of story lines. a 10 second google search and a minute of reading would have told you that

So you just want to argue.

My opinion is different than yours. Don't like it? Well, sucks to be you.

Have a good day.

Ok, my facts about Ms. Thor were wrong. I STILL don't like how it was handled.

And you STILL want to argue.

And ftm, the Doctor IS Sherlock Holmes*.
To change one is to demonstrate an absolute facepalm-worthy cluelessness in one's interpretation of the other, just for the momentary geek-thrill of showing off.

----
* - No, think about it: The loyal, but often confused assistant (in the Classic version, anyway) trying to learn his partner's methods and explain him to the outside world. The Moriarty-like eternal nemesis. The old-fashioned hamfisted leader of the police/Army who still welcomes his unique assistance on a baffling case. The constant need for mental stimulation, an encyclopedic knowledge of everything, the casual imperturbability towards mortal danger, and the oddball habit of getting excited over seemingly minute clues that end up solving everything...)

Not sure if agreeing or disagreeing....

Not everyone, I find the idea of Missy ridiculous. Firstly, because I think a male character should remain a male character. But secondly. the Master has died at least twice now. And the Doctor himself shouldn't even be alive since he has regenerated too many times. But Steven Moffat has just made the series really silly now. I don't think even he understands the plot and he writes it. He probably writes all the Doctor Who episodes at 3am while stoned and drunk

Yes, please do. Next time, how about we just whip them out and measure them? Wouldn't that be much quicker?

Also, ONE thing I said was factually inaccurate. You still ranted about what I was saying without even understanding what I was saying.
