Story and characters. Those two things go hand in hand, which is why I said both.

The world building/ replay value. As an example, I recently played Tales of Symphonia for the 8th or 9th time. You can play through that game 10 times in a row and never once have to play it the same way twice. I think it's important for rpgs to avoid linearity.

Combat system, it's the only thing keeping me away from playing the older Final Fantasy games that every loves like 7 and 10. I'm very eager to play them for the story, but knowing their combat systems I'd get too bored to even bother. If the gameplay itself isn't fun, then it isn't fun at all.

Everything, what kind of gamer would say anything else. It's the answer to anything. It all has to work or it's utter trash.

Wither it is tabletop rpg for platform based, the story is the most important part. You need something to hook the player in and make them feel like they have something worth their time. The combat system and choices allowed in it take second place followed by the loot and experience gained.

Being able to do little things like sit down on chairs. Nothing annoys me more than playing a game, seeing a nice bench, and I can't fucking sit on it.

Meh, I don't know. I've lost interests in stories, since I've lost interests in people, I've also lost interests in caring about characters... so I don't even play RPG for the story any more.

I think having a good graphic and magical landscapes are a must for me. Good combat system and challenging content. I also enjoy upgrading weapons and stuffs. Having a variety of choices for skill sets.

On video games no matter which genre of RPG it is a good story that I find most important though in western RPGs a large amount of player agency and choice is also good.

Graphics. Some kind of artistic value is important.

Everything. That being say the ability to have more than 20 costumes to change your character into will be appreciated.

Story, characters, game play, combat system, graphics. In that order.

Gameplay/Mechanics, progression, and story are all key components in a good RPG; but a great RPG is distinguished by it's music. While its close I think the music single-handedly set Demon's Souls just one notch ahead of Dark Souls in my book.
