Episode 1: Code No. 538

Hmm that was lighter than I would have expected it to be. Wanted maybe more intensity or rather a more mature feel, but it felt too light for what I expected it to be.

But it was still a pretty enjoyable watch, the characters are actually pretty interesting. They aren't like those coordinators who just scream out orders but rather they don't take things too seriously which is nice.

The animation and CG wasn't too bad. Not really fond of the mech designs so far. But the character designs are pretty great. Also what was up with her random English. Felt out of place.

Anyways looking forward to see how this turns out.

Ep. 1

Definitely not in the vein of GitS:SAC/Psycho Pass I was hoping for, but definitely did play my nostalgia switch like a fiddle xD Seriously the music and the atmosphere made me think back to 90's anime. Also rofl at the speedos.

So far will just say: Its different from what I expected but that's not per se a bad thing

Meh, couldn't even get through the first episode. Just nothing appealing at all for me.

Well... it wasn't terrible...

This was a little underwhelming. Considering that a lot better anime seemed to air on the same day, that really doesn't help my views of this show. I know it's early, but I don't see myself caring much about any of the characters. At the very least, not Kagari. I just found her incredibly unappealing, and annoying to watch. I'm willing to change my opinion of her, if the next episodes remove that stick from up her butt, so we'll see.

The fight was also disappointingly underwhelming. Perhaps there was just too much cutting back to the team at their base, and their constant permission granting and whatnot. I mean, there's nothing really special about this anime. It felt very mediocre, and considering there are other, better anime that air on the same day, it just highlights even more for me how... barely average this is.

As with everything else, we'll see how the next episodes fare.

Initial impressions!

It was a pretty good first episode, but my god did I have a hard time following what was going on. Not necessarily a fault of the show, but I can't speak Japanese and all the information was just flying by way too fast for me. I think I officially got lost whenever they mentioned the gubernatorial election or whatever. At that point I was like "Ok, this is cool and all, but WHAT are you guys talking about. Slow. The. Heck. Down!"

I quite like the MC though. So i'm interested to see how she fits in that this new division.

The first episode definitely got me interested in watching a few more. But if they don't slow down a bit then I may have to drop it regardless for my own sake. That or wait and see if a dub comes out or something lol.

The transformation sequences are cool I guess, but they're over really quick.

Otherwise nothing stuck out so far.

I kept thinking of Patlabor the whole time It feels like it was probably an influence.

Not really liking the police mecha design or costumes, but eh.

Another show with info dumps ugh, just hope they don't have to go through calling out the progressive phases every time. It did remind me of how bureaucratic the work place can be...

Actually, that was something I found interesting. They have a team that has to grant permission for their next legally defensible cleared level of police action.

+1 nice description of that, I thought the permission granting for everything they did was pretty funny.

I thought its was ok.

It didn't give me a strong impression.
All characters looked liked they are high schoolers and so I am not crazy about their character design.

The transformation part was kinda funny but at least they are not naked and their parts are not drawn

Well lets see if there is a solid plot becuase the feel is very light , no intensity at all as someone puts it....... underwhelming ..

I will give it a few more go and see if it falls flat or not

Get a feeling it's going to be paced like Rail Wars mixed in with Captain Earth maybe some Heavy Objects with a touch of Plastic Memories if they tie a few episodes together. Just the first episode so might turn on it's head next week to something different but that's what I'm getting out of it from a one off viewing.

I never saw Captain Earth, but the other shows you mention we're massively made of fail. And that's how I feel about Active Raid - so far it's pretty lame.

I commented in the comments section of the first episode that it was a, "Wild ride from start to finish!" and I still think it was. I liked the humor, I liked what I saw from the characters, and the animation was brilliant. LOTS of information dumping, but I gave it a pass because that tends to happen in anime like this, there's no avoiding it. I chuckled a bit when the main character was interrupted during her expository explanation though. I'm not sure if that was intended to be funny or not, but if it was, props to them.

I'll be keeping an eye on this for the oncoming weeks. I liked what I saw.

..... am I the only one who thinks this show is the best thing I've seen in a long time?

White-hat-guy and boss-that-looks-like-Shirley (sorry, names) had me on the floor with their adorableness. Main duo is cute - I like blue guy better than red guy, as I tend to. I like the power-ups.

I love white-hat-guy. I love him.

(biased because I'm obsessed with Code Geass and every other news story about this emphasized that it's from the same director so yeah.)

But it's soooo cuuuute. The character writing and team interactions are the sort of thing I like - like the student council in Geass, or like Love Live or K (which are my top 3 ever).

I hope more people who like that sort of thing give it a chance, not just people looking for Psycho-Pass type things. There's enough dark-and-gritty in the world, we need more cute.

I'm not entirely sure what I expected from Active Raid, having jumped into the first episode without watching any previews (if there were even any posted) and relying entirely on the brief synopsis. I guess I was expecting something closer to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - where the full implications of this 'Willware' technology is properly explored for better or worse. This anime being a police procedural of sorts the story could've had a much darker tone, not sombre by any means but certainly grittier. Instead what we have here is a show about spray-tan power armour that at times borders closer to a romantic comedy that any crime drama. As it stands I haven't decided if I'll be watching the next episode yet.

I completely agree with you, we rarely get a gritty atmosphere these says, especially when the show looks like it would have those undertones. I'll probably drop it at episode 2 then my usual 4. I actually expecting some Psycho Pass genre lol.

Well, that was very different from what I was expecting. Kinda disappointed, actually, since I was also hoping for something gritty like Psycho-Pass. Eh, I'll give this another ep or two.

Speaking the truth, that was the worst first episode I've seen so far this season.
I hope it gets better like Classroom Crisis did.
