Wish our politicians were this passionate. At least then I'd find it funny.

There are parliaments where statements such as "I don't know which are worse, my opponent's policy proposals or the diseases he has acquired from his mistress" are not beyond the pale. Brawls actually happen more than you might think, too.

Our politicians resorting to "contact negotiations" wouldn't be unprecedented. A good example would be during the mid-1800s, when the whole mess about slavery was going on. Arguments were frequent, heated, and at times broke out in violence.

After someone beat and bloodied a colleague in the aisles of the chamber (or on the stairs right outside, memory's a bit fuzzy on the particulars) with their cane, many of them began bringing concealed knives and other weapons into the chambers with them.

I bet that CSPAN's network ratings would go up if there was a decent chance of seeing someone shivved..

Or in Romania where it gets really extreme.

Don't mess with Romanians. Have you ever heard of Vlad Tepes? And don't forget, there may be a vampire in the group.

Everyone knows Dracula.

Vlad Tepes was the historical influence for Dracula. He was not a vampire, but he was a very brutal man. Of course, the movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula" incorporated Vlad Tepes into the story by showing that Vlad and Dracula where one and the same.
