Is It Rational To Assume People Who Use The Word Faggot Or Nigger To Be Racist?

I never use either word to seriously offend someone. I'm neither racist nor homophobic.

Yes, they can be. But it's still slang. When people stop giving power to the word as being racist than it won't be considered a racist term anymore.

I don't think the word should have the meaning that it had when it was used to jeer at slaves anymore.

Not so much a trigger as something seen in bad taste.

By all means,, if you can re-claim the words, be my guest!

Instead of using the word, why not stop using the word? Why blame the people getting offended? We don't say penis in public and a variety of other speeches. You could say we're giving them the power by being offended. But where do we draw the line where the person who used the word is clearly responsible for his own behavior and misconduct, instead of telling the people being offended to not be offended?

The meaning was never lost, the word was just used incorrectly.

You have to let some things go as a part of the times, or climate. When times change, so do buzzwords. Now its SJW. Just roll with it and adapt accordingly..

Not exactly sure where this thread was meant to go, but with multiple reports, I think I'll just let it be closed here.
