All I'm gonna say is that I will definitely not buy one until it's had at least 2 years in the market. I bought a Wii U on day one and had little to nothing to play until a year or so later.

Depends what games it gets and how exclusive they are. If it's mostly Nintendo stuff then I have zero interest.

I'm in no rush. The mass majority of my video game collection is built on Nintendo games, and I just love Nintendo games in general, but I personally think people are blowing this entire NX thing out of proportion. Why? Mostly because we know next to nothing about it aside from the fact that it is coming at some point. Reggie said we'd be introduced to the NX in 2016, not that it would be released in 2016.

The other main reason is because so many people are saying that the NX means the end of the Wii U, yet many of these same people have no problem with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 or XBox 360 and XBox One living side-by-side on the shelf, yet it's not okay if Nintendo has two home consoles at the same time? Double standard much?

I recall prior to his passing, Mr. Iwata (rest in peace) once had a graphic displayed on either a Nintendo Direct or one of Nintendo's media presentations (E3, Comi-con, etc.) that was streamed in which it was depicted that a Nintendo 3DS, a Wii U, and a third system co-existed and communicated with one another, yet no one seems to remember this. My personal belief is that the NX will ultimately be the third system pictured in this graph.

Until we know a bit more about the NX though, I see no reason to get hyped about this. I'm more than content with the Wii U library with fantastic games like Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi's Woolly World, The Wonderful 101, Super Mario 3D World, and the amazing Xenoblade Chronicles X

I'm disappointed in the wii u more than I am the 3ds. I agree that waiting to see what comes of this is the way to go. To be honest, I don't ever really buy games at launch since with time the price drops and the library of titles that interest me is larger. I don't follow gaming trends. Before I learned of the NX I would buy a wii u even if it failed just for the inhouse nintendo games. Since I didn't hop on the Wii U bandwagon I feel I have nothing to be angry about.. in fact it saved me money not having to buy the wii u and will get a better product.

As I said, I'll follow it with interest and nothing more, fingers crossed.

Difference being that the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 were both in the market for at least 7 years before their respective successors were announced or released.

The Wii U just turned 3 years old in November 2015 and already there is talk of a new console.

Not one bit. I haven't been interested in Nintendo's games for a very long time now so a new piece of hardware dedicated to playing more Nintendo games doesn't do much for me.

I fully expect they will release iterations of their main franchises, they always do. I am more
interested in whether they'll try to get more third party support or if their stuff will mostly what's on offer.
If they don't get decent third party support it would be hard for me justify buying as I don't really like Nintendo's
stuff.

if you don't like 1st party Nintendo games, you're probably better off getting a different system
Nintendo doesn't seem to like people playing games from different regions, which means NX will probably be region-locked
maybe someone will eventually find a workaround, if someone finds a workaround the probably tighter security placed on the device.

i kinda have my doubt NX will have a strong 3rd party library of games, especially in the first year or so. the hardware is supposed to be "top notch", and this might result in games being more expensive to develop for the NX. or maybe not (if Nintendo tried desperately to make 3rd party developers interested in making games for the NX)

edit: great. browser decided to act on its own.

edit 2: but of course, it's always possible that Nintendo will surprise me and bring a ton of 3rd party games for NX
likely? probably not.

Not really. I want Nintendo to address what they got wrong this gen and try to bring third parties back into the fold like what Sony did for PS3. Or else the same problems will plague the NX. The lack of sports games, shooters and open world adventure games will doom it to the niche category. Also if its a home console they Need to not build their system around a gimmick and offer an affordable bundle option with a more conventional controller. Nintendo can survive on their I.Ps alone, Wii U proves that but if they want to thrive and be competitive they need to stop going against the grain.
