We're closing out today's Winter 2016 announcements with a show I'm really excited about - BBK/BRNK set to premiere every Saturday starting January 9th @ 7:30AM PST. BBK/BRNK will be available to Crunchyroll members worldwide excluding: Asia, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand; and German, French, Italian and Dutch Speaking Europe.

In the world of BBK/BRNK, It’s been ten years since Azuma Kazuki has been in Japan, and upon his arrival he is taken prisoner by a group of armed men. Azuma is saved by his childhood friend, Kogane Asabuki, thanks to a living weapon she wields on her right hand, known as a Bubuki. Learning about these weapons, Azuma becomes a Bubuki wielder himself and sets out on a journey.

Stay tuned!

Next up on our Winter 2016 announcements is Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju set to premiere every Friday starting January 8th @ 1PM PST and will be available to Crunchyroll members in the following territories: United States, Canada, Central and South America (including the Caribbean), United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia.

Upon his release from prison, a man seeks out the famous comedic storyteller Yakumo after falling in love with his rendition of a story called “Shinigami.” Yakumo accepts the ex-convict as his apprentice, nicknaming him “Yotaro.” As Yotaro gets acclimated to his new life, he meets Konatsu, a girl in the care of Yakumo who wants to become a performer as well, but is unable to because she is a woman.

We'll be back with more announcements later!

The first announcement we have for you today is Sekko Boys set to premiere every Friday starting January 8th @ 8:40AM PST and will be available to Crunchyroll members worldwide excluding Asia.

“Sekko Boys” is a four member boy band whose members are all idols, literally: the group leader Saint Giorgio, the original celebrity Medici, the multitalented Hermes and the lover Mars. However, the only catch is that they are all stone busts! The anime depicts their story of making it as a boy band with the support of their fresh-faced manager, Miki Ishimoto, who has only recently graduated from college.

Stay tuned!

More Winter 2016 announcements, starting off with Please tell me! Galko chan, set to premiere every Friday starting January 8th @ 8:30AM PST and will be available to Crunchyroll members worldwide excluding Asia.

Galko, Otako and Ojou are a trio of unlikely friends in high school with three very different perspectives. Each episode embarks on a day in the life of a trendy girl, an otaku, and a lady, as they discuss their “girl problems.”

We'll be back tomorrow with more announcements!

At this rate it would be quicker to announce what Asia has got, general curiosity but I see "worldwide excluding Asia" a lot, what gives?

Competition in that region, I would expect.

For example, while I don't know if it is still true, Animax was so big in the area they could afford to produce their own dubs.

Some titles may also have the Asian rights assigned to a different member company of the production committee.

I am afraid Sentai ran off and gave that one to The ANime Network.

Although their regions for it strangely omit the United States, which makes me think it will be another Hulu exclusive here.

For those outside the US, the good news is that TAN is going international this time. Their regions for Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle are:

Canada, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Latin America, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The bad news is that so far, their simulcasts appear to be for subscribers only. The good news (but only for those in the US) is the other two that have already premiered appear to also be available on Hulu.

The thing about that though is. It's a pretty bad deal for anyone outside of their regular territories as they'd be paying a full subscription price. For just 3 shows.

Which is probably what has me scratching my head the most about this. It just strikes me as poor business. And then only makes it stranger that they put Star Phantasy online 2 here on Crunchyroll

Also looks like Crunchyroll is simulcasting Sekko boys.

Yeah, they don't even geofilter their page - I went through, thinking 'oh, if I can watch this-or-that show here maybe a subscription is worth it', but everything I clicked on (I didn't check shows that are already on both Crunchyroll and Viewster) gave me a 'not available in your country' message. I didn't go through their entire catalog, but it does indeed look like all we can watch there is those three shows. :/

Seems pretty obvious that Sentai picked up an 'Americas, English-speaking Europe and MENA' package deal and just gave the whole thing to TAN, who decided 'sure, why not'.

But to outweigh the negatives: SEKKOU BOYS!
The expectations I have for this nonsense are out of this world.
