I'm probably the type of woman you're looking for. I've seen over 800 anime (heading towards 900). Of course, I know the terms "seme" and "uke" (I'm a yaoi fangirl after all). I also know the tropes and such as well. The only thing is that you probably won't see me at anime conventions because I have a driving phobia and my parents don't have time to take me themselves.

I gotcha. Yeah, I know there are women that have seen just as much Anime as some guys have; I just haven't met any.

I know of one that went to my university. She even had a good taste in music. Totally got dissed when I asked for her number though. She now has a girlfriend. Just my luck.

They do exist, though, from what I can tell, men tend to be bigger fans of anime due to the fact that more shows cater to them than to women. I cant think of many shows like FREE and all that cater to women (like 6). I could list off like 200 for men.

Edit: OP, meet girls irl, and when the time is right, broach the subject.
"Hey, do you watch anime?"
"What are your favorite series?"
stuff like that. Also you can take roundabout methods like if they listen to vocaloids etc. Depends how blunt you want to be.
I don't suggest asking "Do you like yaoi" or whatever. Good for laughs... and I am surprised at how many yes' I got. Still not the best ice breaker though.

By your definition I'm probably considered "big into anime"
-I've completed 102 seasons of anime and currently watching 9 (although it may not be 102 different series because some have multiple seasons) http://myanimelist.net/animelist/toryleafy
-I definitely know my seme and uke
- and I know many tropes and cliches (perhaps not all but quite a few)

Also, there may be some truth to what you're saying. Although there are many girls who are "big into anime", there might not be as many as guys because of the large amount of series that cater fanservice to guys and not nearly as much to girls.

Yeah, a lot of ecchi and fan service being shown display or focus on the women and unrealistic boob size/jiggle physics.

To be fair, I do know a lot of women irl, but most of them do not watch Anime or have seen very little. I know a friend of mine that has seen nearly every Ghibli film, but none of the mainstream or seasonal Anime, which is fine because I like to borrow a film from her every once and a while and watch the greatness that is Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

huh, there's female anime fans who don't know the terms "uke" and "seme"??? where have they been. even the non-yaoi fangirls know what that is haha

for me personally i haven't seen tons of anime but i've read hundreds and hundreds of manga. it's like my favorite past time -- besides CR forums of course

idk i have a mostly-Gintama-but-also-other-anime-and-other-crap-basicallywhateveriwant-but-anyway tumblr and most of the people i follow and who follow me are girls, and they're fanfiction writers, artists, gif makers, story analysts, and watch way more than the "mainstream" stuff. i do see naruto but most of the time it's for comedic effect haha. i don't see much of the other stuff.

so i honestly have no idea what kind of women OP is talking about bc i never see them but i also don't get out much also maybe because it's the Gintama fandom lol we're a whole different breed

but all in all, a fan is a fan. doesn't really matter his/her "level" of fan-ness but that's why there's the rest of us to introduce these folk to different anime -- after all, they are already interested in the media so probably wouldn't be opposed to branching out to new stuff

just avoid going too deep

Okay, I know the title is very controversial, so i'll probably get a lot of shit. Despite that, I will try my best to keep it as nice as possible.

Over the years, I have never met a woman who was into Anime as much as I am. Even when I went to Anime conventions, the women I got to know were only into mainstream Anime everybody knows about (DBZ, Fairy Tail, etc.) Now, I am aware of circumstances such as not knowing the right people, and the fact that there are women who are major Otakus/Weeaboos. Even so, due to my experience so far, I have not met a woman who was majorly into Anime and again, part of this is my fault.

So, my question is: Are there any women here who are big into Anime?

Now, what you consider "Being big into Anime" varies and is another topic for another day, but for this thread, here are some requirements:

- At least over 100+ Anime on their list
- Knowing terms such as "Seme" and "Uke"
- Knowing the tropes and cliches in Anime as well.

GO!

u know I think ur right now that I think about it. I've watched more anime than the peeps I talk to on CR. And the one person who has watched the anime I've watched is a guy lol.

I didn't even know asking if someone liked yaoi was wrong. People openly admit to it on their CR profiles -_-. I don't get it.

I don't either. they don't use it in anime. I think it's a yaoi/yuri hentai thing.

On the internet, the mask of anonymity allows you to be frank and open in a way not many are in real life. What is normal on CR is in no way normal in real settings. Before I talk about porn with any of my friends I tend to have known them for a good while. If it is the internet... I can start that shit on day 1.

Though I do have to say be careful your parents are not around you when you talk about this. I had my mom asking me what a futa was. That was awkward. I hope my friend gets it from his parents sooner or later ;~;

Does "Spending what constitutes as a small fortune on artwork used in the making of anime and manga" count, OP?

I love anime and manga. And I'm a woman. I also know what seme and uke mean, but, honestly, it doesn't matter to me if you like yaoi or not. But buying plushie, dakimakura and other promotional merchandise doesn't interest me. Buying the actual drawings used to make what I love does hold my interest.

I think each one of us has their own idea as to what constitutes a serious anime fan. Some people feel that means owning hundreds of manga and OOP anime. Others feel that owning hundreds of figurines and nendoroids is hardcore. There are a lot of women who do enjoy anime and manga out there, OP, so, keep your head up.

idk lol. on cr people don't put they watch hentai (for the most part), but when asked they admit. I don't think yaoi/yuri are taboo things irl that you wouldn't mention, like porn. Or maybe they are, idk.

I just feel bad for the characters named Yaoi. The pope in Trinity Blood was named that. so sad.
