Episode 2

Those cosplayers sure made a mess of things trying to operate something that's out of their league, and now they are tasked with shutting that thing down. The way it operates is just plain silly. But in the end, the glasses went on the statue. But then things get really serious there with Uzal having to stay behind with the crumbling facility, all while the girls are greeted by the defense force at the surface. While the comedy made the show go in the first episode, here it just fails big time. I'll give it another episode seeing that things are taking a turn for the serious, but I'm not approaching things with optimism.

Initial Impressions!

YURI CYBORG CAT-EARED GUN-TOTING MAGICAL GIRLS???

I usually don't do impressions for shows not on CR because 9 times out of 10 i'm a week behind (like right now). However, I could not pass this up so i'll probably just do this one and come back when I finish it.

I feel like i've officially been pandered to. The first episode strikes an absolutely fascinating balance between light-hearted comedy and sci-fi. That being said, it's quite clear that even though they're doing very interesting things regarding cyborgs, robots, and sentience, the show doesn't seem like it was meant to be taken too seriously (which is a plus for me).

I'm so done. I think I still need time to process what I just watched.

Literally, I think the only way they could have pandered to me more directly is by throwing in idols, and I felt like I got that from the ending theme anyway

This series was originally concieved of by Masamune Shirow. Who apparently realized his own art style would not be a good fit for it and then handed it over to Kōshi Rikudō.

In otherwords this is a combo of Ghost in the Shell and Excel Saga

Just the concepts and shapes of neck data ports made me suspect that Masamune Shirow was involved somehow, or that this story takes place in the Ghost in the Shell universe. Thanks for verifying my suspicions.

Episode 2: Geofront

I was expecting more of a slice of life show with yuri tendencies and the cyborg concept being involved every now and then. Turns out its more of a parody of sorts of the action genre.

I still find it enjoyable, the boss fight was pretty entertaining. (That terminal though) Curious about Nene's latent ability. Something must have been programmed into her prior to becoming a cyborg.

That little lion headed thing is probably gonna kill it for me. It's design disturbs me. I hope it gets as little screen time as possible. But I am loving Uzal's subordinates. They are great.

But things got pretty intense at the end. Looking forward to how it will play out.

Not sure what is worse. The mythical version of Buer or the one they made for the series.

regardless, it 's the cute(?) magical girl mascot.
and at it's heart this show is pretty much a magical girl show. Or Science Girl show as the case may be

We are just about finished chapter 6 of the manga. Buer's next appearance is near the end of chapter 9.
and unfortunately he is what he is. Upside, Clarion is kind of abusive towards him and that's fun to watch, but it seems like he's the Maguffin for the series so I'm pretty sure we'll see a fair bit of him.

Oh my that was a real thing? Or a myth of sorts? That's gross and still disturbing. Looking forward to that abuse.

Episode 3

As it turns out, Nene's aunt Takumi is another loli cyborg. Well, not quite as she's only a partial cyborg who started out as a human. She's such a handful to deal with seeing that she's always doing crazy things. And then the bunny girl of the cosplay underling squad comes in looking for those activation glasses and it looks like those higher-ups are up to something and they need BUER to do it. And speaking of which, the soul of BUER happens to be that three-legged lion. That was totally freaky, and this show has just been all over the place trying to be too many things and failing at it. With that, this will be it for me with this show.

That new girl is a bit annoying tbh. Eh, the latest episode wasn't really exciting at all, mostly felt like a buildup with the only experimental parts being slightly interesting.

The comedy is all over the place still.

Well, I'm calling it quits with this one. Didn't even make it through the entirety of episode 3. So many strong shows this season, including others on Friday night, that this just doesn't make the cut. There are some decent ideas here but I just find myself struggling to make it though each episode. First drop of the season.

Show, although light hearted, comedic and yuri, seems definitely set in the same universe as Ghost in the Shell, with same technologies and such.
