Comic books and manga are like musicals to me, medium that occupy a middle ground I feel shouldn't exist. Say your lines, don't sing them. It's annoying. With comic books and manga you spend almost twice as much as you would on a typical paperback book but you only get a fraction of the story. Sure there are pretty pictures but my imagination works just fine. Maybe if manga were as dirt cheap here as it is in Japan I'd be more inclined but I can finish off the typical US release manga in 5-10 minutes where a book of similar cost would take a couple of hours and have significantly more content.

I read loads of manga, but I just don't bother uploading my manga list on MAL.

I do, but I prefer to own them, or at least have a paper copy. I don't read too much for obvious reasons

Because I only read manga that I can buy (... unlike far too many people), my selection of titles is limited, but I do read manga. I just end up watching more anime because the entry cost is so much lower.

*high five* I do understand the cost angle as well. I do like Monster Musume, but I wish we got to see more of Polt than the cameos in the anime.;

I love reading manga even more than I like anime, so I spend way more on it.

I just started into manga, and I will say it's not as enjoyable as my other reading material. I'd much rather dive into one of my, Stephen King books than manga. The idea of being able to put images together in your head, as you read is what makes reading fun.

I read more than i watch to be honest but i try more NEW stuff with anime than manga. Something this leads to me seeking out the manga its based on.

I read manga but do prefer watching anime. Ideally, the anime form should be better than manga (but in many cases, this is not true). The manga provides the base of the content while the anime could expand on it with animation, voice acting and sound tracks.

Once the series' animation concludes, I do go back and read the manga from the beginning. For instance, I watched Slam Dunk before reading it. Plus, its not as exciting to watch something if you know what will transpire beforehand.

What the title says. I've been on MAL and notice a sore lack of ratings in the hundreds for most manga series. Does this mean most people don't read?

Nope, I don't like reading manga online so I buy the books at Kinokunia bookstore. I like the book format. I like to read the source material for lots of shows. So I have quite a bit of manga (relative I guess).

Can't speak for everyone, but I would think most people read manga, too. But I really don't know.

I certainly don't though. I'm not a visual person at all - i'm far more influenced by audio and sound. Tried reading manga, but it does nothing for me. Just empty images to me personally.

Never tried light novels though.... that actually might be something I can get into.

I read and enjoy manga. I have considerably more anime titles on my plate, mostly due to the reason that there just isn't as much manga I'd like to read that's legally available. I refuse to read illegal translations. As a matter of fact, I'd say my enjoyment of anime and manga is equal.
