Now before people judge me and say Im conceited and blah blah.... go away. Anyways point of this post is people definitely judge a book by its cover. No I'm not the "cliche"home all day everyday, wears baggy clothes and messy hair, and is a socially awkward type of nerd/otaku. I like makeup, and dressing up and looking cute. I party as much as other people my age and I have friends and go out and stuff. I even model and i think people assume I'm a "dumb pretty broad" which is so frustrating. So when I participate in a conversation about comic books and anime and etc people are like shocked and its the most annoying reaction.

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you feel like you don't fit into the stereotype of being a geek but you like what you like?

Yup I understand you 100% I guess I have interests that may be considered 'geekish' not that I care of course but I don't feel like I fit into this stereotype everyone seems to associate it with. Just do you and be happy (ノ*゜▽゜*)

Nope, I know people of all different colors of outwards appearance and you couldn't guess what they were into.

Apparently, I look like a gamer but if you didn't already know I was into anime you'd be like "..wha?" or so I've been told lmao.

Other people have said they thought I was like a stoner in HS. xD

And a bunch of other weird preconceptions that I've heard about me >.>.

Why do so many think nerds are unattractive? I find them unbearably irresistible.

I don't have this problems because I don't talk to people

I've been an attractive nerd all my life. The only problem is that I sometimes feel it's unfair that I was gifted with both physical beauty and an above average intellect. Anyone else feel that guilt?

I get the same reaction sometimes. I've been told I don't look like a typical nerd/otaku, and people are sometimes surprised when they find out.

However, I've also met plenty of people who don't look like a stereotypical nerd, but are nerdy as hell.

It's like any other steryotype. There will be plenty that fit the image, and plenty who don't. You don't need to look or act a certain way to be into something.

Guess it depends. I'm pretty good at knowing when not to talk about certain stuff. And I know which reaction you will get in some situations.
Sure, it happens. But I usually only have a set of friend and I don't try to pretend that I know everything either. Back in HS it could be more common. Now I'm not often put into those situations. There is definitely a thing about that that I find very shallow.

I can understand your point of view. I have met women like yourself who are into manga/anime. I can say I do have that shocking feature but more in the line of happy shock. To let myself go in a way.

Stop being a nerd.

So, I'm not clean shaved, my hair is all messy because I just woke up, I've got bags under my eyes, I'm wearing a black shirt with some white markings on it that's almost entirely peeled off, it's two X's, an L and an M too big for me, so my tattoos are showing because the cuffs reach all the way up to my elbows and they aren't buttoned up, and my black nike's look like they're about to fall apart, so the only thing that doesn't look like it's about to either fly or crumble off my body, including my body parts, are my jeans. I've planned to go to the store, to buy some crackers and some red bull, I can't remember what I bought anymore, I open up my door, on my way out, I see my neighbor's door (shared entrance) is open, which sends shivers up my spine because I just don't like talking to people and I know she's gonna do the whole small talk thing if she sees me, so I decide to hurry, I turn around to lock my door, and then... it's not my neighbor, it's her sister, she walks up behind me, pinches my ass, and whispers some god awful stuff into my ear that don't need repeating... My neighbor's daughter used to live next door to us and she's about my age, so that should paint a picture of just how old this woman is. I do my slithery snake thing where I smile, back off, and reply with a mixture of thank you and I'm in a hurry, or whatever, and manage to escape, somehow, I shake her off, I shake it off, I shake everything off, except what will be nightmares in the future. I get to the store, and I stand by the aisle where they sell cookies and crackers and buns and what not, and I notice this girl in my peripheral view, slightly younger than me by the look of her clothes, she's got her head turned towards me the entire way, like she's got whiplash or something, and I realize she isn't going to stop staring at me until I turn around and look her in the eye, which I then do. So, she stumbles over... and pulls the entire shelf with her on the floor, causing this huge commotion. I turn around, walk away, and I hate her intensely all the way back home, where I have to find a way to sneak back into my apartment unnoticed. I get back home, no neighbor in sight, I've got my sugar and caffeine rich diet ready for my sixth Bleach marathon. This was at a time when I still had a Facebook-account. I decided I would check my Facebook for activity, and wadayaknow, I have a message from this girl I've known for some time, but haven't spoken to in years, I read her message and I reply her, and basically her end of the conversation goes something like this "Hi. You're there, yay. Yeah, my boyfriend and I are on a break. It's cool. Have you seen x yet? You home? I'm coming over."

And I don't know what's worse. The fact that this keeps happening to me spite looking like I got thrown out of a moving car, or the fact that there's a bunch of a**holes out there who's going to read this and not see the humor in it because he or she is too busy feeling sorry about themselves for how unappealing they perceive themselves to be, so they plan to go the extra mile just to make me feel like even more shit than I already do.

I realize I'm ranting and maybe don't make any sense but I'm bored now and wanna go play some Diablo 3 so I'm going to leave this as is.
