I've recently started watching anime. So far I've liked what I've seen, but I finished the shows I was on and now I'm stuck. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

So far I've seen Attack On Titan, Sword Art Online, and God Eater. As a gamer I absolutely loved SoA's story. I also really enjoyed the darker plot of AoT. Is there something similar to these shows I might enjoy?

I think you should try Log Horizon. The theme is similar to SAO. People stuck in an mmo trying to survive.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon? - a solid adventure series set in a fantasy world.
Witch Craft Works - a comedy/adventure series set in the modern world.
Onee-chan ga kita - "Big sister is here": a series of comedy shorts, each 3 minutes long. A good way to introduce yourself to the comedy genre without wasting too much time if you find it isn't your thing. There are several other comedy shorts on Crunchyroll but some of their jokes reference other anime series which you won't have seen yet.

1.Hunter X Hunter 2011 (probably my favorite anime ever)
2.Akame Ga Kill (All around awesome, lots of death/gore)
3.Black Lagoon (Badass modern day pirates)
4.Terraformars (Very similar to AoT but with mutated roaches, constant death, plot twists, no character is safe)
5. Mirai Nikki (Survival game, psychotic characters, blood, keeps you constantly guessing)
6 Btooom! (survival game with bombs)

GATE is also a great new anime which is simulcasting now if you want something with the times.

If you're looking for dark, a lot of good titles have already been mentioned above. My first thoughts went right to Terraformars (on here), Mirai Nikki (Future Diary)(on Funimation and Hulu), Akame ga Kill (on here) and Btooom! as well. Some others that are fitting...

Seven Deadly Sins (On Netflix)
Darker Than Black (On Funimation and Hulu)
Blue Exorcist (on here)
Another (on here)
The Severing Crime Edge (on here)
Black Bullet (on here)
When They Cry (Higurashi) (on DVD, not sure where it's streaming at the moment)
Umineko When They Cry (takes place in the same world as Higurashi) (on DVD not sure where it's streaming at the moment)
Ookami Kakushi (Masque of the Wolf) (on Hulu)
M3: The Dark Metal (on Viki and possibly Hulu)
Fafner/Fafner:Exodus (Fafner on Funimation, Exodus on here)
Psycho-pass (on Funimation and Hulu)
Code:Breaker (on Funimation and possibly on Hulu)
Terror in Resonance (on Funimation and possibly Hulu)
Chaos; Head/Steins;Gate/Robotics;Notes (all three on Funimation and possibly Hulu)
Tokyo Ghoul (on Funimation and possibly Hulu)
Tokyo ESP (on Funimation and possibly Hulu)
Speed Grapher (on Funimation and possibly Hulu)
Loups=Garous (anime movie) (on Hulu)

While they're not really videogame related (well a bunch of them have had videogames and visual novels), they all have a more dark/adult feel to them and are quite enjoyable. All episodes on Hulu and Viki are free to view online, Funimation gives you the first few episodes to watch without a paid membership.

Again thanks so much everyone! It's overwhelming starting from scratch and trying to choose what to watch. I've checked out some of the shows you've suggested and they're great. Now I can't pull my self away to get anything done...

I think that you should expand your tastes more. Sure, there are similar shows to Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online, but there are many more shades to the medium. Try some suspenseful sci-fi with Steins; Gate, maybe some layered romance with Clannad (Especially the After Story), and my personal favorite, the classic psychological brain-melter, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I'm surprised I didn't see anyone post One Punch Man. One Punch Man is pure entertainment and practically anyone would greatly enjoy it.
