Post Reply What do you think about the future of the anime industry?

Has Under the Dog had any updates as of late? I remember people pushing me to back it up but it didn't interest me, I think it's going up which I guess kinda sucks because more mainstream anime like AoT but it makes me happy that more people are getting into anime. But we're going to have to deal with the weeaboos oh God the weeabos. But besides that I'm happy
More people being into anime is a ok with me

I agree kickstarters have made lots of shows that probably never could/should have made it to production, but it won't leave that important of a mark in anime history. I think things have been stale for a bit after the initial HD movement. Apart from SAO and FATE, and a few select studios, we rarely see cutting edge animes that make full use of everything available. I'm keeping an eye on Kiznaiver as one that could do something unique, but apart from that there isn't much this season (apart from Phantom World) that is one of a kind. 4K is definitely in progress, just not anytime soon. It looks like one giant question mark going forward.

I can't help feeling it's like the asking about the future of the emerging Jewish small-businessman in 30's Berlin:

Yes, there's good things happening, but it's starting to become more and more disturbingly common, even positively accepted, for the mainstream people of the country to demonize it as the "reason" for all their country's problems, to guilt-by-association anyone who speaks out in favor of it, to insist that the proponents of it knuckle under to the mass view or face ostracization at least, and finding more and more support in angry social movements to finally "cure the national disease" by somehow getting rid of it, and its bothersome old supporters standing in the way, once and for all.

When we can do something about that, we'll see a lot less of anime shows "hiding" in the corners, joking about otaku NEETs snacking next to their MMORPG games in their figure-museum apartments, and saying that what they "really want" is bouncing boobs.
Seems like there were a lot of Anne Franks hiding in the attic back then, too.

What i hope for in the future is just more anime all around. I want anime to grow and become more known everywhere so we can have lots and lots of more anime of all kinds.

i see in few years that we'll have the software/hardware available that people with great ideas but little art background can produce anime at home.

It's only going up from here, it's a booming industry. Once we find common ground with the rest of the world anime will be unstoppable.

The future: probably more ecchi/moe genres, which annoys me

I wish a new manga artist emerges soon and creates a new good shounen anime like Dragon Ball Z or One Piece or at least something simliar to Sword Art Online or Attack on Titan. I really miss watching anime like these.
