Hey everyone! We've got some exciting news ~ We’ve got big convention plans for 2016 and we need YOUR help! Crunchyroll is looking for hard working anime fans to attend conventions with us and help us out at our booth.

Some things you might be doing - interacting with convention goers, educating people on what Crunchyroll is, handing out promotional materials, talking about the season’s hit shows, and more! You will be compensated for your time, given a free badge for each convention you work, some Crunchyroll swag, and a 90-day Premium Membership!

We’re looking for candidates who are 18+ years of age, a resident of US or Canada, have reliable transportation, a friendly & positive attitude, good communication skills, and general knowledge about anime. The more you know about anime and Crunchyroll, the better!

To apply for our Crunchyroll Convention Crew Program, please click HERE and fill out the form. When we are needing help at an upcoming convention we will e-mail qualified people to see who is available to be a part of our team that weekend. If you have any questions, please respond in the comments below!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Crunchyroll take care of my accommodations?

- Crunchyroll will provide a free convention badge but you will need to take care of hotel, travel, and other general convention related expenses.

Can I cosplay while working?

- Cosplayers are welcome! We just ask that it be a Crunchyroll brand.

Will I be able to choose which days of the convention I work?

- Usually yes but not always. At some conventions we may ask for more help on specific days or we may have already have scheduled enough people to work on a requested day. You will always be told prior to the convention what days and times you will be working.

Will I be working all days of the convention?

- Some shifts would be for the full time the Exhibit Hall is open, some may be only part of the time. It will depend on what is going on at the convention. All staffers will be allowed to take regular breaks as well as a lunch break.

Will I be given a stipend for food/expenses?

- We will not provide a stipend for food or expenses. We usually have some snacks and water on hand and at many of the cons we provide lunch.

Is it okay for me to work for other companies as well?

- Absolutely. If you need to split your time with another booth or company that is fine.

Once I’ve signed up am I on the list permanently?

- We will keep you on the list as long as you want to be. If you ever want to removed from the list or update your information please contact us via [email protected]

What conventions will you need help at?

- We will be posting our 2016 conventions list in the near future. When we have a need for help at our booth we will reach out to this list a few months in advance.

How should I dress when working the convention?

- A shirt and jeans will be fine. We will provide a Crunchyroll t-shirt for you to wear each day at the convention. We do recommend wearing comfortable shoes since you will be standing most of the day.

How much will I get paid for working a convention?

That will depend on how much you are scheduled to work as well as what convention it is. You will be told how much you will be paid prior to working the convention.

US and Canada... What a joke, what about the rest of the world? I guess this still means CR will attend no conventions outside the us like every other year

They would have to pay decent for this to be worth it. No travel, hotel or food expenses included. Sounds fun for sure...I just couldn't see going if you end up spending more than you make.

Our in-office team attends conventions in the US and Canada only for right now - we have our international teams attending conventions all over and handling staffing themselves.

I applied tho the only one I'd be able to go to is Anime Expo. Its the closets con that I can go to only about a hour to 2 hours away from San Diego CA. Unless you guys go to San Diego Comic Con.

Well then I'd say your international team isn't really doing much since their not even on bigger conventions...

Also based on the first few comments I'd say it's not just Sweden/scandinavia, but more countries involved like the UK who doesn't get anything....

So if I applied would you ask for my help with cons that are only local to me or would you ask for my help even if the con is out of my way?

This sounds really awesome and I would love to help, but I just would like to know about that. As it seems if I have to go to a con that is out of my way I would be spending more than making. Though just attending a con and working with CR would be enough for me....just got to think about expenses.

MCM Comic Cons are probably the biggest events we have over here. I'm pretty certain Crunchyroll haven't been to any. Certainly not in the past two or three years.
Making an appearance or two in 2016 would earn CR some serious Brownie points. Something all anime streaming services wit a streaming presence seem to be rather in need of at the moment.

First company to line up a load of Japanese licensors in a row at a UK panel and open the floor to Q&A wins the year. :-P

Physical badge or one of the e-badges?

Pretty nifty opportunity, especially if you are good at networking. Gives you the ability to talk to other vendors as a peer and not just some random from the crowd. It's crossing that initial hurdle which is important in exploring what career choices are available in the industry, if that is something anyone here is actually seriously considering. Even a referral, or a tip on what job openings might be available before the general public knows. Something to let you get your foot in the door.
