Post Reply What's the point of life?

A tough question to answer.. I think one should attempt to find that meaning as they go through life. Some decide to coast by the days, some decide to contribute to the future, some decide to shape the present. --I think the point of life is to find out what's important to you as an individual. "Walk in the ways of thine heart."

life isn't just about enjoying it, you have to be careful not to spoil yourself as well. Life should be about enjoyment with moderation. Self-discipline is necessary. maybe not so much when you're young..but I believe that depression is created by people spoiling themselves, for ex. With bad food and bad habits

Is life worth living? Depends on your situation and circumastances. Lets say, if you have terminal cancer and in constant physical agony, you may not think so, and others might agree. But if you've just been fired or dumped, you probably should not kill yourself, your life circumstances might change for the better, and you may be glad you didn't [kill yourself].

What's your preferred lifestyle? Sorry, I don't really understand the question. I suppose my preferred lifestyle is acknowledging that I am the only one that can live my life and experience life from my perspective. I guess in that regard I'm my very own special snowflake, cold, frail, and made up of water.

Have you encountered many hardships and made it through? Umm, yes. People close to me dying and others not doing so well. I've survived but I can't say its made me stronger, only wiser, more experienced. In some ways more frail and prone to nightmares and flashbacks.

If there's people who go through horrible stuff and emerge from it stronger than ever, does that mean there's also people who don't make it? Not many people can be shot point blank in the head or struck my lightning and live, but they do sometimes. In a less serious scenario, everyone has different levels of coping and tolerance; what may be a lesson learned for one person may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for another. Life just isn't fair, and people are assholes sometimes (or all the time, depending on circumstance). Some of how well you can cope is genetic, some of it is upbringing, past experiences, etc. So it depends.

Is life worth living? It can be. It's not always worth the effort but I find it has it's moments, so to quit during the bad seems short sighted to someone as fortunate as myself.

Have you encountered many hardships and made it through? Many, not all of them required me to do anything more than wait and most weren't so bad in retrospect.

What's your preferred lifestyle? Playing games in comfort and drinking tea is a heaven my ancestors would give all their money and die for.

If there's people who go through horrible stuff and emerge from it stronger than ever, does that mean there's also people who don't make it? Obviously.

Do those people not deserve to live?
One argument could be that nobody deserves to live and are luck they weren't a rock on another planet.
There are many that squander their lives but then again they should be free to chose to do so.
There are also those that are pure evil.
But deserving to live and being alive are two separate things.

Life is worth living and everyone deserves to live.

The point of life is to live it. Duh. ( I'm serious)

Just do what you want and what you like without harming anyone. We only have one life, after all....

I don't know. Everything is just a random chaos that we stupid humans try to understand and get meaning from. Same thing with worth and who deserves what. My stupid opinion is that everything that is here also deserves to be here, even if that something is a scumbag or a murderer. Also life is worth living for me and that's all I know. I don't think it is so by definition.

I've had some major downs in my life at various points.

But I've decided that all the ups make life worth living, even if it's something as simple as waking up to a beautiful morning.

'My' own point of life is to enjoy its beauty while I'm given the chance.

Is life worth living? Yes it is.

What's your preferred lifestyle? Fighting lifestyle. When things get tough, which they will to always keep fighting and believe that things will get better. Things will not get better nor will things change if I don't fight.

Have you encountered many hardships and made it through? I have gone through a few, but I've mainly been an observer. I have a cousin who was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors told her two years ago she wouldn't make it to the next year. She never let this stop her. She traveled and was always determined to take on the day. She was also determined to get the family back together for a reunion. Her attitude toward knowing she is sick and dying, but refuses to back down amazes me. When my grandmother had cancer she fought, but when a hospice nurse told her "You know you aren't going to get better."" that is when my grandmother gave up. To see my cousin who was told she was going to die and see her take on the day makes me realize how precious life is. My own mother has had a hellish life with the way people treated her. She worked for people who verbally and mentally abused her for 11 years. She continued working there only to help put me through private school. When she finally could no longer take it and quit things got bad. She put in so many applications, but no one hired her. She was denied unemployment twice. We had to start relying on family to help. She was at the bottom of the barrel and she wanted to give up so bad. Though she never did. She continued fighting and never gave up. I admire my mom a lot and seeing how strong she is makes me determined to be like her and that no matter what I go through in life I will be able to pull through. Also just recently while working I noticed a man in a wheel chair. This man had no legs and I think he only had one arm. Him and his friend both looked quite ragged, I figured they may be homeless. Though this man in this wheel chair seemed to be in a pleasant mood. I walked passed him and nodded with a smile....he nodded back. Just to see him in his condition even made me see how precious life was.

If there's people who go through horrible stuff and emerge from it stronger than ever, does that mean there's also people who don't make it? Everyone is able to overcome tough times. You just have to keep going. Don't let anything stop you. If you fall down pick yourself back up and keep going.

Do those people not deserve to live? Everyone deserves to live. Just because things get tough or life seems unfair does not mean your life isn't worth living.

Why do you guys need a point in life? If there was a point in life than there would be no adventure or individual thought only following a track to its final destination. The point of life is whatever you want it to be.
