They did. It's not announced in the OP, but if you look at the show's page the sub AND dub are both there.

For the prefer that prefer the Ghost Stories (which is also on this site), just remember this: This '00 series had some success in Japan. However, the Japanese owners essentially begged ADV to make it sell. They essentially said, "This series wasn't doing well in Japan. Do what you think will make this series sell.

This 8/6/07 YT video of a Vic Mignogna and Greg Ayres panel has Greg explaining the script writing process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZfhrhM09zI

Thank you for posting this explanation about the Ghost Stories anime. Monica Rial, who plays Momoko Koigakubo in it, was a guest at my local anime convention back in 2014. In the panel that I went to that she hosted about her general voice acting roles someone asked her about this series and she basically explained the same thing. I knew that there was a reason why it was so different from the Japanese version, but I was wracking my brain as to why and was trying to remember! But yeah, the Japanese company basically gave them free liberty to do with the script what they wanted to help make it sell in America and make some more money back on the anime, which they thought would do better than it actually did in Japan.

On a side note, she told an anecdote about one day while she was researching and getting into her character, she was sitting on the floor and reading a Bible. Greg I think it was walked by her and glanced over but kept going a few steps, then actually stepped back a few steps and noticing what she was reading, gave her a funny look and kept going. I'm guessing that it's because she's not very religious and it was odd for Greg to see her reading a Bible.

Does anyone know what happened to the Sound of the Sky regions? It used to be worldwide excluding Asia, if I'm not mistaken - I really wanted to re-watch it but it's apparently US and Canada only now!

Looking forward to Terra e! Watched the TV series and read Keiko Takemiya's manga before, but haven't had a chance to see this older movie yet.

Sound of the Sky (the English title) was always US and Canada only. The original simulcast was Soranowoto (the Japanese title). This was the original simulcast announcement:

The regions were more restrictive than what you recall:

This show will be available for the following territories: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
