I contacted Crunchyroll support about this 36 hours ago. They asked me for more information a half an hour later. I gave them that information a half an hour after that. I have have not heard anything since then. I followed up 12 hours after their final contact and still nothing.

So here is what is going on:

I have been a monthly premium subscriber for quite a while.
I recently cancelled my recurring subscription, because someone has offered to buy me a year of premium.
My profile shows that I have premium membership until the 18th.
I am unable to watch videos at a higher resolution than 480.
All my videos have ads.

So there's the entire problem. I am a premium member, and I am not receiving the benefits of premium membership.
I have paid for the service. My account reflects that I am a premium member, but anytime I try to watch anything at a higher resolution, I am redirected to a page trying to sell me premium membership and premium+. Obviously this is infuriating.

I suspected that might be the case. Yours is not the first "dual personality" account I've seen lately. It as if some bug is preventing the status change from propagating through the account.

It doubt it would help (but it can't hurt), but would it be safe to assume you've already tried logging out and back in again? If not, you might want to try that, as well as clearing any Crunchyroll cookies while you are logged out.
