It's good to hear a military opinion on this. Hope this sets a precedent for them.

It sounds like the only negativity shown has been from the news.

What do you expect from Jewish media. The only two countries that seem to have a problem with Iran is the US and Israel.

Well, how else could it end? Iran vs the United States of America would end badly. Iran already made a good deal and to break it would probably end in war. The United States can and will invoke NATO again and Iran would be screwed from having no allies. Iran knows this, they saw from 9/11 the United States would invoke NATO. Iran is already having a power struggle with Saudi Arabia over Yemen, Syria, an Imam that Saudi Arabia executed, etc. It can not afford more conflict with the United States. Israel would probably be all to happy for another fight as long as Netanyahu is around.

I'm not exactly sure how the Americans got captured though, the apparently went into Iranian waters, but why? Was it a secret mission or the much more likely instance of stupidity?

Both sides could have made it much more dramatic. In the end the soldiers would be released but in the past this has taken days or weeks, while both sides used it as an opportunity to ramp up aggressive rhetoric. It is a sign that we can be diplomatic with Iran, and that is a good thing.

I'm pretty sure they drifted into Iran's territorial waters due to mechanical trouble. No secret missions or outrageous stupidity. It's not that dramatic. These things happen. The only thing noteworthy is that the entire event was handled so well.

I didn't think of mechanical failure. That is probably the number one culprit then. I also like the optimism about how quick the release was for the sailors. Weren't a few journalists held in Iran for months/years? This is a good sign compared to that.

Israeli media is what I believe should have been said. The disputes with Iran also happen to include Europe, it's just that Europe seems to be a non-entity in politics nowadays, except for Russia which seems to throw around military forces for no reason obvious to me. It only appears that America and Israel are the only ones concerned about the issue since they are the loudest and have the most influence.
