Just watched this on Netflix. Wow, such a thrilling series. I'm looking forward to the 2nd season. The main character's a bit of a douche, but not overly annoying. The antagonists were well developed throughout the first season, so I'm hoping to see even more background on them next season. The CG actors were a bit stiff and it seemed like they used rather low frame rates in most scenes. Maybe they can improve upon that for the next season. I really liked the CG for the IBMs though. I can only imagine how inconsistent they would've looked with regular animation.

Sato's pretty badass though. I found myself enthralled by his fight against injustice, even though that doesn't seem to be his motivation for it.

I agree, I found myself starting to dislike the main character and rooting for Satou.

I didn't even know about this till recently. Yes, I know it's a pain that Netflix makes you wait a few months or even longer, but at least their not Harmony Gold.

Just watched this on Netflix. I watched dubbed, since it was available (amazing that Netflix dubbed it in 4 languages so fast). The dub itself is a big stiff at points, especially Sato, but overall reasonably watchable. The CG also made some of the characters movements really awkward but the IBM's were really well done. Overall, the story was really good. It's nice to see a plot where characters don't team up right away. The MC is real jerk but in some ways that really helps the plot since it lets you appreciate the points of view of the other characters more. I'm interested in seeing where this is going so I hope there will be another season. I'll probably check out the manga at some point.

I finished viewing this a short time ago, and one thing I kept thinking during the early episodes was, "You know, if you changed out of that torn bloody shirt, you wouldn't be spotted so easily".

Can someone tell me: Did they keep the Satou suicide airplane scene at all? That was the one scene I was expecting them to cut and it's obvious why. That is one scene from the manga that really stuck with me and the fight afterwards too. Fucking brutal!

I'll start watching it tomorrow, I'm glad it's finally on Netflix.

No they did not, they planted bombs instead. The scene was really cool though as Satou literally road the building down as it collapsed.

And I was sure that his friend would've brought him either a change of clothes or at least a jacket.

Oh nice, that's a good alternative. Ya, I never expected that scene to make it into the anime, but at least they replaced it with something equally as brutal.

Impressions

Just finished it on Netflix. First off let me say the CGI really wasn't that bad. As far CGI goes, I think this was really well done. I probably prefer the CGI in BBK, but this was really fluid and looked good. Now, compared to the manga art? Literally not even a comparison. The manga art is so gritty and has such an interesting style that this type of CGI could never match it, but the CGI is still solid on its own right.

Anyways, this was really faithful to the manga and seeing the characters come to life was really great. All the VAs did an awesome job and fit the roles well. The characters in this show are all very interesting and definitely have a wide appeal. I really like the characters in this series, none of them are completely perfect and all different reasons for their cause. While I don't like Kei personally, I find him an intriguing main character. Saito is my favorite character, he's definitely one of the better villains that you'll find in an anime/manga. He's just crazy and loves violence, we need more villains like this guy! Ah, he is just so awesome.

The plot in Ajin is really good too. The concept of the Ajins is great and the story has a lot of twists and turns to make it all exciting.

The only thing that was different is that there was no suicide plane car, but the building collapsing on the other was just sufficient. Also what's interesting when they were having a security briefing to protect the hospital, they said along the lines of "we're ready to counter a aerial terrorist attack". I just thought it was a nice touch since actually a suicide plane crash would probably be one of the most obvious strategies an Ajin would use in that situation. It was a good pivot on the anime's part.

Anyways, we'll probably get a second season of this and I'll be excited when it does get made. The manga in the meantime will have to get ahead more.

Overall, it was a great adaptation. 9/10

Omg, yes that's basically me throughout the whole series. I also couldn't thinking, dye hair and get some color contacts. Maybe loli it up for a bit, 'cause c'mon!
