Like a story you saw in the news, on the internet, that someone told you, etc.

All the news stories about war, terror, abductions, rape..etc you've ever heard are pretty terrifying

And then there's stuff like paranormal/ghost stories that give me the chills

Not "scary" but by a horror writer, my favorites so far are the "The shadow over Insmouth" and "At the mountains of madness" I recommend you read a summary and then the real thing. Also "The thing at the doorstep"

uh. i've had two big unexplained things; they happened when i was a toddler.

1.
it was midnight and i was in bed just staring at the open door frame because i couldn't fall asleep, i suddenly saw a figure slowly and silently hop across. i was sleeping beside my mum and she said it was nothing, i hid underneath my blanket.

2.
it was a particularly early in the morning so the day was gloomy and everyone was still in bed. as a child i liked sitting on the stairs and staring through the gaps of the railing but this time it was a little different. i stared towards the living room from the stairs and i saw a child dancing frantically while staring at the painting we had hanged up on the wall. now that i think about it, the child resembles the child in the painting on the wall.

this picture slightly resembles the large painting we had. the big difference was that in the painting we had, the child seemed like she was staring directly at you when you looked at it.

a lot of things strange things happened when we lived in that house that my siblings could account for their own stories.
we've moved house since then, but the things that happened when we lived there really makes me question certain things.

Try : House of Leaves

People kept stealing my copy of House of Leaves. After I'd bought about three of the damn things, and no one ever returned one of them, I went over to the last guy who borrowed it's house and killed everyone in there. It was so much fun, I started loaning out my copy of House of Leaves whenever anyone asked me. But, I never had to buy another one after that.

House of Leaves is a really good horror story that'll scare the hell outta you. You should read it. :)

(Sorry. Couldn't resist. LOL)
