My 2 year old daughter was running towards the highway as a car was coming. My father-in-law was standing right next to her playing, and was supposed to be watching her.... but he got distracted or something.

Fortunately, I don't trust him to raise a Chia pet, so was watching, too, from farther away.... so I sprinted and caught her. Spanked her little behind, too.... then took over the child watching duty altogether.

The second scared I've been involves her, as well. Before the highway incident, I let my daughter stay at their house for a week. When we showed up, my daughter is in the summer heat, in a play-pen, covered in rashes. Meanwhile, my father in law was AGAIN supposed to be watching her, but was about 30-40 feet away working on a truck. Apparently she's had the rashes for a couple days. We checked her temp, then rushed her to the doctor. I was furious. AND that's the LAST time I let my kids stay over with them.

Turns out it was scarlet fever and Infantigo.... which could have been much worse.

One of my kids was having silent seizures, that means they are unresponsive, their eyes are to the side, you can tickle them and they are like they are dead, but still breathing. I rushed him to the hospital and they kept him on oxygen and sedated for a week or so and ran a battery of tests.......he wasn't getting enough oxygen due to the seizures so he would of died if I hadn't brought him in. Thank heavens it happened while I was awake and not during the night! Turns out he caught mono from the daycare. Mono causes a fever, a fever causes seizures, seizures causes not getting enough air. No air, you die. I still tear up over that one. He was only 2 at the time.

An 8 richter scale earthquake....

I was going to say having a loaded assault rifle pointed at my head from five feet away (I shot him).

Or the time I set the alarm off at the airport because I had managed to misplace a couple of MP5 magazines in my carry-on luggage (The MP was chill and quick to reassure me that it was fine and that I could recollect them when I got back. I always liked the MP guys, way more so than civil police).

Or one or two of the three car crashes I've been in, one of which included up to ten cars.

Or the time I nearly broke my back and couldn't move while I was far up on the mountain by myself (after thirty minutes to about an hour I was able to get down).

Or the girl I found passed out incapable of getting conscious in the snow in the middle of the night when my phone battery was dead (I got her to the hospital in the end).

Or the some five times I went psychotic, especially the two times I nearly stabbed people to death, one time of which I was drunk out my mind.

Or the time I was going to commit suicide (without leaving a note or telling anyone about it).

Or my four or five encounters with the police (these situations were almost the worst, for some reason).

Or the many sexual encounters I had as a kid with adult women.

But the mental breakdown I had after a breakup was probably the most terrifying, I think.

When I had a bike handle bar piercing into my chest.

What worst? Getting your arm broken in 4 places, nearly drowning, getting hit by a car?

Flipping a minivan across the meridian during rush hour and after a ice storm.

When my mother was in the hospital from a car wreck. It was terrifying not knowing what would happen.

Hm, this is a tough one but getting "Sleep Paralysis" on one early morning in my teens. Everything was literally numb and couldn't even move an inch, that is literally the most horrifying sensation I don't ever want to experience again. (Did I mention it was also stress-induced?)
