In order to be a truuuuu anime fan you have to have watched every single anime ever at the edge of a volcano. Even if some lava comes up you can't stop watching. Even if you burn alive you can't stop watching. And do it while dressed as Eren Jaeger. THEN YOU ARE A TRUE FAN.

If it were YOU, what would be YOUR requirements to be able to consider if someone were into Anime or not?

Simple: Do they enjoy watching anime?

Don't care what type, how much, or whatever just if they enjoy watching it.

The only way for someone to be a true fan of anime is that they must have seen some anime and like it. That is all. There is no such thing as a true fan. Some people here must be trolling with these requirements.

Now for someone to be a jaded fan of anime, they must realize what is in way too much overabundance. Right now it's high school magic battle anime with harems. Before it was moe. They must also be sick of whatever is popular. I would say I'm somewhat jaded.

Don't put anime fans at some elitist level, anyone can be a fan.

The only requirement is to like watching anime nothing else one thing you should not do like for example disliking someone who really likes mainstream anime because that means you are acting like a elitist moron because anime is anime.

I find it amusing that the OP's requirements mean I wouldn't be an anime fan if I chose to take a couple seasons off, even though I've seen over 400 series and nearly 11,000 episodes of anime

My requirements are pretty simple. I will acknowledge someone's fandom if they are able to break through the barrier every newcomer has of pidgeonholing themselves in one genre- which is usually long running action/adventure shonen. If you go too far down that road you'll become a filthy weeabo, instead of true otaku scum like me!

I'm not going to give a definition for being "into anime".

But my definition for being "really into anime" is that you have strong opinions about the definition of being "into anime".

Ahaha, that made me laugh more then it should have.~

Mmm..I'm not really sure. I agree with a lot of different people so I think the word "into" is a bit too broad. Maaaybee..if they could tell me their five top animes? A bit simple but it shows that they've watched a decent amount of animes and what they like genre-wise.

My test for if someone is into anime:

Me: "I really like anime. How about you? Do you watch anime?"

Them: any form of "Yep/Yes/You betcha/Sure/etc..."
