Actually I know exactly where RWBY could fit in with other anime. Let's call it an OEA, or, Original English anime. Meaning: An anime show that was originally developed in English. This term could also include shows like The Last Airbender franchise (if you ignore the heavy Chinese influence) and the future anime output of Netflix and even Crunchyroll.

Variants are OCA: Original Chinese anime and OKA: Original Korean anime.

Thank you for reading

If it's American I'll stick to calling it a cartoon. Wasn't ashamed of enjoying the occasional cartoon, and not about to start now.

If I was Tobuscus you would've liked it.

Don't know who that is.

The test would be if you can use the word in a sentence with someone who has no idea what you're talking about but still have them take it seriously. If I used amerime at the office it'd just get involuntary chuckles. I'd suspect Japanimation died out for a similar reason parallel to the anime fandom becoming less insular, you could use it between fans fine but to anyone else it sounds like a joke word. And people kept pronouncing it Jap-animation instead of Japan-imation.

Which had its own problems.

Tobuscus is a Youtube channel by Toby Turner.

Nah buddy, I don't think it's gonna happen We're already way past Japanimation as well lol.

The term "western anime" is what I personally like to use, but the definition of anime is very subjective so you won't be persuading anyone here.

It shares the same elements. So why not call it an Annie Mae.

Because it's a bad investment?

(And if we do give it its own category, where do we place the original pre-Go "Teen Titans", that schizophrenically couldn't decide between fan weeabooism and Cartoon Network "Anime is teh Geek" ridicule?)

I like this. We already have the category "original English manga" anyway, so why not OEA.

I like boring more than clever sometimes. Personally I'll stick with terminology like "animation," "animated series," "animated movie," "animated short" etc.

ok guys I've come up with something we can call them that is better than Ameri-Me or OEA. It will be easy to remember too as long as you went to grade school.

Say those letters backwards and you get! AEIOU and sometimes Y.

AND if your really old you can say something like:
"Don't watch that! It comes from the Vowels of cartoons!"

I don't know how to respond to this, so I'll just say error does not compute.
