BMI charts don't tell the truth. Muscle Matters. In my opinion if you can run a mile in 7 minutes , your in shape.

Also, if your truly obese you need help.

Fat and obese mean the same thing. Just sayin'

not entirely, you can be fat, but not obese, like obese to me is 200 and above, fat is 170-199
again, also depending on height

So pretty much every nfl player is obese?

I said also depends on height, and gender too for that matter

not being sexist or anything, just that male and female bodies metabolism is different

Think there is a medical chart for that somewhere. Of course that is for an average person. If you have denser bones or more muscles then you will weigh more and not be overweight.

so optimal for me would be 130, im trying to get there, ive lost 30 pounds

I'm like 6'2 and I can't go below 170 without severe hungry so I stay between 170-180. I also have dense bones.

just curious, why is there no severely under weight for 5 11 and below? and why is 120 obese for 4'5

I think they covered the most populated ranges. The BMI might be off from reality though but its a good rule of thumb.

Body type, muscle mass, and bone structure change this around a bit.

Technically, I have to be in the overweight range to be healthy. That being said, I still need to lose some weight.

I'm 5'10" and have been as low as 160.... but I looked weird and sick. My rib cage stuck out of my chest.

Everyone has fat
Obese is if you can't walk, can't walk up the steps without heavy breathing, can't do a simple pushup

Don't EVER use B.M.I. for determining if your healthy or not, it is complete and utter bullspit. Really you can be 6'3" and 250 lbs. with 15% body fat and be perfectly healthy or be 5'8" and 150 lbs. with 25% body fat and not be healthy. B.M.I. does not take into consideration body composition or bone density. Athlete regularly score poorly on B.M.I. test when in fact they are in great shape.

For determining if your average fat or obese its best to use body fat as the standard
Body Fat Chart
Classification Women Men
Essential Fat 10-12% 2-4%
Athletes 14-20% 6-13%
Fitness 21-24% 14-17%
Acceptable 25-31% 18-25%
Obese 32% plus 25% plus

body composition is the best determiner of overall health and there are millions of calculators on the internet that are fairly simply to use
