ok i will throw some flame on this bc haha it's just funny i like it when people take offense to everything they make idiots like me look decent

there are people blaming the writers/directors/etc for not writing "roles" for black actors to fit in. ok so apparently this whole time roles are supposed to fit actors and not actors make themselves fit their roles? i thought that was, you know, kinda... their job. man i been doing it wrong. it was all just an act

i have no acting skill but imma find a role that suits me perfectly without me having to pretend to be someone else and i can be a hollywood star

also i just saw this on my blog

(if u dont get it, check out steve harvey announcing winner for miss universe hahaha)

man pop culture is a riot

Film companies will spend as much as several million dollars on marketing to awards voters for a movie in the running for Best Picture, in attempts to improve chances of receiving Oscars and other movie awards conferred in Oscar season. The Academy enforces rules to limit overt campaigning by its members so as to try to eliminate excesses and prevent the process from becoming undignified. It has an awards czar on staff who advises members on allowed practices and levies penalties on offenders. For example, a producer of the 2010 Best Picture nominee, The Hurt Locker, was disqualified as a producer in the category when he contacted associates urging them to vote for his film and not another that was seen as front-runner (The Hurt Locker eventually won).

in other words oscars are given out in a similar fashion as FIFA gave out world cups

I don't know but for the love of God someone give Leo a damn Oscar already.

Seriously!!! I don't understand why he hasn't won an Oscar >_>

I love all his movies, especially the old ones. I was highly impressed with 'what's eating Gilbert grape' and 'the basketball diaries'. He's an awesome actor.

People have been indulging so heavily into their feelings, they've forgotten that merit is what matters. Not diversity, quotas or feelings. Only merit matter.

Incidentally, it's is, or should be, the exact same when it comes to work and qualifying for a job.

Don't people have things more important to do... Find a cure for Cancer, end world hunger, or whatever because boycotting some rigged award crap should be low on the priority list and not really worth the time or effort in my opinion.

Didn't MLK say, " I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

To add black actors to this competition merely for diversity sake would be just that, judging one for the colour of their skin.

"General Discussion" is a premise that just flew completely over you, isn't it.

Don't try to use reason with people like this. They have shutterglasses, so all they see is a racial issue THAT MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE.

Yeah I get the complaints but going through all the movies I've seen the only performances that I would consider to be an out right snubs were Idris Elba in the supporting actor category for "Beast Of No Nation" and "Straight Outta Compton" in the best picture category, and for those of you saying there were no good movies with predominately black cast I have to question whether or not you watch a lot of movies or deliberately avoid watching movies with mostly ethnic cast because there were a fair number of good\great movies with mostly black cast (Compton, BONA, Creed, Dope,Girlhood, Tagerine, etc).

Busy bitching about the Oscars meanwhile people in Detroit are having this shit as their water.

Cry me a fucking river about your Oscar bullshit, how dare you try to pull the race card when Flint(a predominately black city) is going through a real crisis.Janet Hubert was 100% right.
I swear the last time I actually respected Jada was when she was dating Tupac

Frankly speaking, I think most awards ceremonies be it for a high school, the oscars, the Nobel peace prize, or whatever are all just a bunch of drivel given out to fluff the ego of whoever or whatever community the award is aimed at. So honestly I've got a pocket full of fucks, and I'm not giving any..

Unfortunately not. It's lead and mercury if I'm remembering correctly. Biggest flop is their governor is a slackass that's not lifting a pinky to fix it.
