I never watch them anyway. I rarely agree with or understand the results.
I might check the winners online, but that's about it. More often, I just hear the results in passing and scoff.

I can't believe I forgot about Creed. That WAS a freaking awesome movie with great acting. Never heard of the other ones.

To be honest. the Academy Awards has been losing it credibility for the last few years (not only because of diversity, but for other reasons), and I agreed with both Spike Lee, Jada Pinkett Smith over the lack of diversity. You can read this BBC article. Geez, even last year Academy Awards the TV viewership has declined, I don't know how and what kind of new low this year Oscar will get. So yeah, I don't take the Academy Awards seriously like it used to.

I definitely agree there needs to be more diversity. I'm still mad that Ava Duverny got robbed last year for Selma. There's a reason why television is looked on more highly nowadays than film.

I can take Spike Lee a little more seriously though because of his background then someone who's just peeved that her husband didn't get nominated.

I'll probably just tune in the beginning, only because I'm a Chris Rock fan and to see if he says anything, but yeah, it's not as fun to watch as it once was. Even the redcarpet stuff is just inane and boring as hell especially since that old bat Joan Rivers died...

Also, Leo should've gotten it ages ago; he wins, it's only because Oscar feels bad and wants to shut him up.

Oh, after last year, they were so close--they were SO...HAIR-BREADTH...CLOSE!!--to finally seeing the light for the first time since 2008:

After the thrilling, pulse-pounding, nailbiting competition over whether Boyhood or The Imitation Game would beat Birdman for the statue ( ), the Academy initially, in March, announced that the 8-10 nomination rule would finally be scrapped, and '16's Best Picture awards would be five nominations again.
That was in March. In September, they reversed their stand, and said that they would be keeping eight nominations this year. Why, and what particularly happened over summer that would make circumstances different? Well, the eight-nomination rule would have allowed an animated film to compete for Best Picture, while the five-nomination rule would have forbidden it...

But then, the old default neuroses took over: "It was the HOST'S fault! We need a new YOUNG, EDGY host, who can keep the show from running too LONG! Maybe if we brought Chris Rock back as a hip BLACK host!"
And then afterwards, like always, they were deaf to all other voices of reason.
(Not to mention complete amnesia for why the Franco/Hathaway show flopped, as well as Chris Rock's first hosting gig.)

Remember last year?--Apparently, you were a "racist" if you DIDN'T give the award to Selma for Best Picture...Oprah said so!

(And while Straight Outta Compton is "this year's Lego Movie: 'We were snubbed!...It's a conspiracy!'" , Creed is more "this year's Heath Ledger in Dark Knight:
'Look, let's face it, the movie itself was just ehh-good, you're only going fan-goo-goo over the Supporting Actor performance, and he's got the critical lock on it, so shaddup already!!'"

Wonder if Rock will do another host-seg like he did last time, go to a mall theater to interview how many black audiences went to see Spotlight, Bridge of Spies or The Martian, and instead find out how many liked Marlon Wayans in "50 Shades of Black".

(Okay, maybe a few of them saw Creed, but not for Stallone.)

Will Smith had the most memorable line, at least.

Of course it was great, Rocky is Sylvester Stallone's baby. When he first started the movies, they wanted a different actor, one who seemed more 'professional' but Sylvester declined, saying he's either Rocky or no movie at all. Thus, they greatest series ever released.

The problem I had with the oscars for the last few years is that beside the voting system is somewhat a bit outdated from my POV. A lot of good films don't get nominated and also I question some of the nominees for the last few years. For example, after I watched 12 years a slave, I thought it shouldn't have won Best Pictures because when I watch it, I didn't see anything outstanding about that film, it's a good story but it didn't feel like a Best Picture to me, I think Gravity deserve the Best Picture over 12 years a Slave (I hope The Martian win Best Picture of the year). I haven't watch Birdman yet, so I can't say if the film is good or not but I always thought American Sniper isn't really Best Picture worthy.

One thing that pissed me for both Academy Awards and Golden Globes is that for Best foreign language films, I always keep noticing there's a lack of East Asian films nominee for both. I mean how did Roaring Currents, Ode to my Father, and Snowpiercer not get nominated since they're excellent films and worthy of making the Best Foreign film nomination (I mean Roaring Currents, and Ode to my Father should've been nominated). There's a lot of good films from South Korea, and some from Taiwan that should've made the list. I've been wondering how this film not get nominated from the Academy and the Golden Globes:

I mean Gangnam Blues and other Korean films I mentioned are worthy of being nominated for best foreign pictures from the Oscars and Golden Globes. And yet they get ignored.

Well guess what, that film got a lot of critical acclaim. What really blew me away is how did Mad Max: Fury Road got nominated for Best Pictures at this year Oscar.

It's like complaining about a beauty pageant.

You're getting mad over something stupid.
