Love Live! School Idol Project

This one's a perfect 10 for me because quite simply it manages to be lighthearted and funny without it affecting the plot. The characters are all rather likable too and the performance sequences are especially well done.

Madoka Magica might be the only TV anime I can truly, wholeheartedly give a 10/10 rating to. The story is incredibly tightly told - this is a show where every second matters, no threads hanging are left hanging and everything builds to the conclusion. The visuals are breathtaking, with a unique style that makes the show stand out even from other Shaft productions and a masterful use of staging, blocking and light/shadow. While it's no One-Punch Man in therms of animation, the moments of fluid motion are used well for both action and character animation. The Kajiura soundtrack is appropriate (for once) and used perfectly. The characters are great and memorable. And the story and themes are both heartbreaking and incredibly clever.

My other favorites, Evangelion and Penguindrum, are absolutely 10/10 to me, but while Madoka Magica becomes a 10/10 by being a 10 in every respect, those two shows have flaws that they make up for by being 11/10 in other aspects. Evangelion has technical limitations and a lot a clutter in the beginning but makes up for it by having the most true, raw human emotion I have ever seen in not just anime but fiction in general. That show could be two stick figures talking for half of it's runtime and I would still consider it a masterpiece for that one reason. Likewise, Penguindrum has a couple of loose ends and at least one redundant character, and it's arguable the lesser Ikuhara show next to Utena, but the emotions it portrays are so true and the way it portrays them visually so beautiful that I still put it up there with Madoka and Eva.

Yamato: 2199 is about as perfect as you can get.

Solid Story, Fantastic Animation, and all the main characters on both sides get developed really well.

Nagi no Asukara ( A lull in the sea )

This has to be like.. the most perfect anime I've seen in a long.. long time. I love the colors and the animation and if you watch it in HD. It absolutely takes your breath away. Besides the anime and such, the story matches it perfectly and the characters develop in ways you wouldn't even think. It's just.. amazing awesome.

No anime is 10/10.

The one I love the most though is Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Absolutely everything is awesome except the antagonists (Terraist cult and the Phezzani head) are a little flat. The protagonists are awesome. The supporting cast is awesome. The politics and philosophy debates are on point. The art is pretty great despite being a late 80's anime.
