New Member Introductions!

Hello all new/existing members to Atheist Anime Fans!

I'm creating this thread so new people can have a chance to introduce themselves to the other members of our group rather than just posting in the guestbook. Don't feel like you have to disclose any information you wouldn't want to share and you're not obligated to introduce yourself in this thread either.

If you are already acquainted with some of the members outside of the group then great, this is a chance for you to find more like-minded individuals.

The intention of this thread is as it states but also to potentially find other buddies within the group that you might want to engage in religious/ anime/ or any other conversation you desire!

There is going to be no general format for this thread, you can share whatever information you feel is necessary whether it's pointless/funny/ or random facts about yourself!

As some of the information is displayed already beneath your avatar (If inputted) don't feel the need to display it again here.

Well I should start with myself!

Username: - Mivaria (Just a random name I pulled out of thin air)
Age/Location: - 24/United Kingdom (This is my correct age and actually I live In Wales)
Random Facts: -
1. I chose not to display my gender as I try to avoid being treated differently by others because of whether you are XX/ XY chromosome.
2. I can never stay with one profile image for long, I tend to change it a lot depending on my mood etc.
3. I have 7 pins and a plate in my right elbow after an embarrassing accident in which I crushed my joint to pieces... oooppsss!
Open To Buddy Invites?: - Yes, (I'm a very laid back person and I don't mind meeting new people.)
Current Top 5 Anime: -
1. Rokka-Braves of the Six Flowesr
2. Akame Ga Kill
3. Steins Gate
4. You're lie in April
5. Beautiful Bones -Sakurako's Investigation
(This list changes a lot as I watch a lot of different anime)
Religious Belief: - Atheist
^ Added this as I know there are Agnostics and others in this group as well.
Are You Active On CR?: - Currently Yes, on average it's between 1/3 hours a day.

Side note: - Feel free to check out my profile if you want to know more even though it's a lil bare or throw me a message etc.

Anyway this is just a guideline, you can add/remove or completely change it to your desires!

And... I'm done, Enjoy the group/forums everyone!

Hello everyone!
I'll stick to the same format, since it works and I can't think of a better format.
Please keep the info below limited just to this groups members. I trust all you reasonable, free-thinking types.

Username: - JustineKo2: 2 because it's my 2nd account and the name is supposed to be a combination of my first name and the Japanese word for cat. People seem to incorrectly assume my name is Justine.
Location: - China
Random Facts: -
1. I change my gender tag whenever I happen to feel like changing it.
2. I am ambidextrous but primarily use my left hand for accuracy.
3. I live in China and work as an English teacher at a middle school.
4. I love toilet humor. The idea behind Daniel Radcliffe's new movie makes me smile.
Open To Buddy Invites?: - Yes
Current Top 5 Anime: -
1. Angelic Layer
2. Scrapped Princess
3. Waiting in the Summer
4. School-Live
5. The Slayers
Religious Belief: - None / atheist
Are You Active On CR?: Yes, fairly active. I like posting edgy things in the General Forums.

Username: - LordDust (arose from a Johnny Cash reference)
Age/Location: - 36/Midwest USA
Random Facts: -
1. I am wired weird and as a result I am largely incapable of empathy, though I can do sympathy since it can arise from an academic understanding of someone's emotional position.
2. I don't like people in general, I make exceptions for some. This is part of why I talk on the internet, it makes interaction much easier.
3. I actually heal fast enough to impress medical staff. We're not talking Wolverine grade here, but it is enough to make doctors freak out a little.
Open To Buddy Invites?: - Sure, internet friends are easier, I don't have to fake as much body language, intonation, and such. I also don't have to actively read micro expressions and body language in real time.
Current Top 5 Anime: -
1. Gate
2. Grave of the Fireflies
3. Overlord
4. Spirited Away
5. Gurren Lagann
I am terrible at making these lists and sometimes it will change daily.
Religious Belief: - Agnostic Theist (I asked about this when invited, was told I was still welcome, I didn't want to intrude)
Are You Active On CR?: - Sometimes, social interaction is labor intensive for me. Sometimes I am happy to do it and even feel like being around people. Other times even the internet seems like too much work.

ShikamaruUruhara: Randomly combined two intelligent characters from shonen animes.
29 and have been in Miami for 8 months.
1. I have a problem staying in one place for more than a year since graduating school.
2. Spent over a year in Asia.
3. Spent over a year in South America
4. I took a very unorthodox approach to life, after I stacked up enough cash to travel the world I decided to do it in my twenties and start my career now. I find the idea of getting to travel once you are done working to be counter intuitive. Do you really think you are going to enjoy the world more in your 20's or in your 60's.
5. I am very open to friend invites. Unfortunately, my friends are not into anime and many of them would crack jokes that I masturbated to pokemon when I got caught watching it one time. (I would always try to wait until 3-4am to watch because I lived in the sports fraternity house and I figured they would rib me over it).
6. I was a collegiate athlete and was dominant in volleyball, baseball, kickboxing, and decent at football.
7. I have been more active on CR recently, its nice to be able to discuss anime with people as I can't with anyone I know in person.
8. I plan on starting a group for 30+ old anime fans once I turn 30 in June.

We already have a thread for listing our top five anime so I will put the ones I am watching now
What I am watching:
1. Erased
2. Haikyuu
3. One Piece
4. Ace of the Diamond

Wow! You're all very interesting people, i'm lucky to be in a group with you all!

I'm Reneker54, 26 years old ^_^

I'm pretty passionate about spreading awareness about science and evolution, while giving religious people different views.

Atheists have been far too silent as a community, in my opinion. We need more voices out there in the spotlight fighting for rationality and secularism. I believe the louder and the more articulate you are, the better.

Religion is a disease that has been spreading from adults to children for millennia. Once the disease runs out of hosts it will go extinct. Atheism is simply its absence.

Other then that, i'm huge into Chess, and Go. My chess is pretty strong i'm a titled player (FM) in case you're wondering.

I'm always trying to improve and learn more; although, my true passion is go aka baduk. If anyone follows go at all, i have the rank of 5dan on OGS, and 8dan on tygem go server. I also participate in a monthly go club at my local university.

I also consider myself kinda nerdy, i host a D&D (dungeons and dragons) -rpg pen/paper and dice game. We also play lots of other board games every week at my home, we play things like settlers of catan, wearwolf, and resistance, many more too but i'll just list these popular ones. ^__^

I also play league of legends on the PC - master tier ranked last season on NA server. I mostly boost accounts now a days instead of playing 5s or solo queue as i am getting sick of the game in general lately.

Other then that i'm a big into anime and manga, and enjoy meeting new people a lot!!

Thanks for reading!

Interesting thread. ^^ And it's a pleasure to meet you all. I'll also be using the same format.

Username: - XxDarkSasuxX (Based off a nickname from high school (Sasu))

Age/Location: - 21/U.S.A.

Random Facts: -
1. I'm in the process of learning Japanese.
2. My profile picture is of Maki. She's is currently my number one favorite anime character and my idol!

The anime she is from is called Love Live! School Idol Project and the VA/singer's name is Pile (Stage name) or Hori Eriko!

Open To Buddy Invites?: - Yes. I have strong opinions and people generally do not like what I have to say(or more so the fact that I say and stand by it.). It is for that reason that I do not typically send friend requests. The first and only requirement that I have for friendship is that you accept who I am.

My opinions are usually strong but they are not unchangeable.

Current Top 5 Anime: - (No particular order)
1. Fullmetal Alchemist
2. Code Geass
3. Love Live! School Idol Project
4. Clannad
5. Madoka Magica

Religious Belief: - Apathetic atheist

Are You Active On CR?: - I've been pretty active for the past few months. (Only been around (the forums) since about August so about 200 posts a month/50 posts a week)

Go is an amazingly rewarding game, the best place to start is here: http://playgo.to/iwtg/en/

Also after you get the hang of it make an account here: https://online-go.com/

and you can make an account and play other new players in the great game of go!! Thanks for being interested! It's hard to recruit people for this game usually!

I'm Sarteck. The name comes from a character I created back in the mid-80's, and I tend to use it all over the place.

I'm... 36? 37? Somewhere around there, I haven't really even thought about my exact age in years. I'm white, male, and "cisgendered." The unholy trinity that third-wave feminists despise.

I currently reside in Ohio, and work as a systems administrator (I watch over a bunch of servers and make sure they stay running).

When I was a child, we traveled from place to place, somewhere different every week, for about ten years. Due to the travelling, I was "home schooled," which (in our case) is more like saying that my brother, sister, and I taught ourselves.

Before we started traveling full-time, I got into programming when I was about 8, making short programs in BASIC on my ATARI 400. I was also heavy into fantasy, like Dungeons and Dragons, as well as fantasy novels.

I've been in the Navy, been through college, lived on a reservation for several years, and basically done a whole fucking lot in my life. I swear, I could write some pretty entertaining books about the situations I've been through and people I've encountered.

I can program in a variety of languages, and when I actually spent time on Tumblr, I programmed many extra features that people could use with their accounts, like Tumblr polls, a nice Triple Triad game, and more. I've adminstrated my own Bleach fan forum, but fell out of love with Bleach a Looooooooong time ago, so due to lack of interest the thing is like a dead zone nowadays.

I tend to like all kinds of anime. Even the kinds I don't think I like (those fucking ones that always are set in a high school and/or have teenagers saving the world because herpaderp adults are too dumb), I generally warm up to after a few episodes. My favorite animes, though, involve a very detailed world with tons of characters and no clear "black and white" when it comes to deciding if characters are good or evil.

Because of that, my favorite anime is one that will sadly never see another season, called Guin Saga. Of course, I obviously adore One Piece as well for the same reasons. Attack on Titan, despite the "teenagers saving the world" bit, is quite detailed and doesn't focus solely on teh kids, so it's okay as well.

I love a good abridged series, because having a hearty laugh is always a great thing. While the obvious (DBZA) is my favorite, I also like that Sword Art Online abridged series--makes the story and the characters stand out MUCH more to me than the original story, hahaha.

Mkay, that's probably enough of an intro, ya?

EDIT: Oh, I'm an atheist, although I really actually WISH I believed in God. (Ya just can't decide what you believe, though, can you?) I'm currently active on the forums, yeah, but I've been known to take long hiatuses in all the places I frequent.

Its a pleasure to meet you all. This group is looking pretty solid and its nice to see like minded people. Marterran is a cross between my first name and the sci-fi term for earthling. I'll be turning 40 this year and live in the Midwest here in the States. Big anime/manga fan and was also raised on tabletop RPGs and chess. Always wanted to play Go but sadly never had anyone to play with (Hikaru no Go was fun, too). Need a refresher course because its been way too long. I get my RPG fix these days in Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox One. Been a video game fan since Intellivison and the 1st Nintendo systems came out.

I write poetry and prose and used to do a lot of reads, but I haven't been active in over a year. I'm known to be an activist poet, but I don't want that to define me because I have a lot other work that has nothing to do with injustice, politics, or religion. As for that, I'm an Apathiest.

Pretty active these days on CR. I primarily focus on the few groups I'm in, when I'm not watching the simulcasts. There are some great new shows this season! Hard to do a top five, but I'll do five that had a huge impact on me becoming an anime fan.

1. SDF Macross
2. Akira
3. Ghost in the Shell
4. Fist of the North Star
5. Record of Lodoss War

Lodoss War is probably the single best anime to get most D&D fans to sit down and watch anime if they aren't into it yet. Some of the episodes feel like someone animated a table top adventure. If you don't have folks to game with, is there any chance you are near the Indianapolis area since you mention Midwest? I'm looking to recruit for table top gaming (board games and RPGs with a smidgeon of classic and card games). You would really need to be in Indiana for any drive to be reasonable though, I'm pretty close to Indianapolis.

Really? It's one of the few older ones that have been recommended to me time and again, I ought to give it a shot. I'll see if CrunchyRoll has it. XD

I couldn't agree more with your Lodoss War opinion. I ran AD&D for years and I got a few of my friends into it that way. Thanks for the invite Lord Dust. I'm in Illinois so its next door but still too far to be practical.

All this talk of Overlord on the wall made me get curious. Wow. How did I sleep on this show? It was great fun.

Thanks all.

I would recommend it. Slayers has a bit of a D&D vibe, but it is not nearly as serious as Lodoss War and it isn't quite as strong of an impression of a tabletop RPG feeling. Slayers is actually how I got my wife into anime. An ex boyfriend had shown her some ecchi verging on hentai, so she had thought it was basically cartoon porn.

Overlord is a nice change of pace. A mildly villainous sort as the main, but with a bit of a conscience. I also enjoy how they have made him so overpowered without allowing that to completely dominate the story.

I've been crushed by work the last week and a half. However, I am halfway through the go tutorial you suggested. My first impressions are that it is a more strategic version of othello.
